Look - deep brown with a slight red hue, a gigantic khaki head, great retention, and thick pretty lacing.
Smell - I'm getting tart cherries, grapes, an earthy vinous wine aroma, some molasses, caramel malts, and vanilla.
Taste - man this is good. It's a perfect blend of sweet, tart, and slightly funky. The tart cherries hit first, followed by that kinda funky vinous wine, and sweet rich molasses and vanilla round it out.
Feel - insanely high carbonation, thick chewy body, incredibly smooth, and finishes dry and crisp.
Overall, this is a unique take on an old ale. It still has elements of that decadent malty sweetness that you expect, but the red wine barrel notes and tart cherries push it to a new level.
