Very Good
HaysawHaysaw
Notes: Used for centuries on the farm as a tool to cut through bales of hay, this saw has a decidedly demonic figure. Inspired by Burial’s future as a farmhouse brewery, this Belgian farmhouse ale is deceivingly complex. pale, wheat and Belgian crystal malts are combined to forge a wonderfully well-rounded beer, while wide bodied slow fermentation of our house saison yeast imparts plum and clove flavors.

A: Pours a hazy honey orange in color with light amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and some light golden yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy beige head that reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Overall the aroma is quite light with light aromas of spicy saison yeast and grainy malts. Hints of lemon/citrus are also present as the beer warms up.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of pale and grainy malts. That is followed by a slightly stronger flavor of spicy saison yeast along with some light lemon citrus. The beer finishes with a light flavor of herbal hops which imparts a light amount of bitterness which fades away pretty quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: This beer is fairly easy to drink since the alcohol is very well hidden. Enjoyable but not spectacular.

Pours a nice copper color. Smells yeasty, malty, like figs and cloves and slightly like candied pineapple. Tastes sweet from the malt with the clove and pineapple flavors appearing in the middle along with a nice yeasty flavor. The finish is spicy and slightly hoppy. Really a nice drinking beer that I will seek out again.

Appearance - not quite the color of an amber ale, but definitely much darker than a traditional saison. Beautiful head and lacing.

Smell - Malty, yeasty, slightly sour smell (weird) and mild fruit; banana, fig, pineapple.

Taste - Malty (slightly sweet malts) with a strong banana/clove presence. Little bit of sourness on the end that leaves you with a tart, malty after taste.

Feel - Heavy, low carbonation... goes down smoothly.

Overall - Totally different style than most saisons, but I don't know if i'm rushing to try another "amber saison" after this one.

Okay saison, the flavor mostly coming from yeast with a little malt too. I like my saisons with a little more of lemon peppery taste.

Pours lighter golden orange little dull, not amber but not as light as many saisons. Off white finger size head stays around for while for smaller head.

Aroma is wheat, light horse blanket and some tart lemon like citrus on first pour but mellows to more subdued fruit and clove.

Taste is like the nose wheat notes , light horse blanket and light tartness that is not quite lemon. Finish is lingering light horse blanket, wheat notes, lingering earth notes and clove.

Mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation kind of mellow and little heavier then most saisons which is fine.

Overall not bad pretty descent brew, little heavier and bigger then most of the style. But not quite the funk or man this is a kick ass saison.

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, tawny-looking, darkish golden-amber body with a slim, off-white head.

Smell: Spicy, lightly sweet-smelling holidaytime fruit cake aroma.

Taste: Tangy, sourish, tart-tasting culmination of orchard fruits, sticky raisins, peppery spices, candy-glazed wheat, clove-flavored bubblegum, cinnamon and 'nanas. Spicy aided by a staunch carbonic bite. Convoluted flavor all the way through the tingy finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: It's okay. Feels much more akin to a dunkelweizen.
