Excessive bubbles slow to fall. slight haze. Pale straw gold body with a fat white head that clings.

Nose is lemony citrusy spicy with some hop pepper. Malt is crackery. No way to perceive the fruity ester from yeast that defines the kolsch because it's too hoppy. And the hops are not too much more than modest. No bite from bubbles. Soft fruity lemony. A light twinge from bitterness. Drinks like a blonde. Lemon pepper and white bread.

This was good and I think that centennial and mandarina bavaria are nice together. It's how delicate they are that says forget your preconceived idea and say this fruitiness is that fruitiness? I say this beer tempted the original guidelines when it said often mistaken for a blonde, so can we say a regional hop and it's flavors?

L: Pours golden yellow with less than a finger of white head which dissipates quickly.

S: grassy, earthy, pepper, some lemon.

T: Follows nose with a nice light bitterness. Finishes dry.

F: High carbonation, light body.

O: If I can get this regularly, it will be one of my go to beers.

Poured from the can into a stange glass. Canned August 24th 2017.

Rusted muted brass color, with good clarity in the body, with a bit of darkness and maybe a touch of hazy opaque appearance. Bright white head, slightly three fingers with soapy retention, but also good staying power.

Very hop forward but enjoyable nose. Hints of floral grass and light sweetness of hop herbs that is very inviting. Hop dominant that masks much of the kolsch character though. A faint bit of dense sweet malt makes a nice touch as well.

Palate seems to take a bit of an unexpected turn. Faint hints of toasted malt, with a hop angle that seems to go to a powdery clove muted flavor. Finish is quite wet, but also surprisingly chalky tasting, that is very dry and lingering unfavorably. Very roof palate dry, almost with a parching burnt brown spice aftertaste. Much of the hop character that was so unique is not really coming out on the palate either unfortunately. A faint touch of tea and herbal sensations, which while interesting come of out of place.

This is a pretty odd brew, and it certainly doesn't remind me of a Kolsch. More so, it comes off slightly disappointing even as a hopped up style.

Can stamped 1/5/17

Crystal clear yellow color with a small sticky white head. Smells floral and spicy over a doughy base. Flavor is almost like a hoppy pils...flowery citrus, peppery grass, and tangerine with a touch of grain. Crisp, light body - super easy to drink. Nicely done.

Poured into a Double barley can-shaped glass. Bottom of can says 1/5/17.

A- Pours a light golden color with a 1/2 inch white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Floral hop aroma with notes of pear, apple and apricot. Also quite clean and dry.

T- Crisp flavor of grainy malt with the fruitiness of the hops coming in afterward. Very drinkable and, again, clean with a very light bitterness.

M- Also crisp and dry with medium carbonation and a light body.

O- Hopefully they come out with this again in the summer since this is my idea of the ultimate lawnmower beer. All the mildness you expect from a kolsch but with the extra dimension of fruity hops.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint pale golden yellow highlights. The beer has a two finger tall pillowy foamy bright white head that reduces to a couple of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of citrus/lemon zest, citrus/grapefruit, and floral hops over the top of light aromas of grainy + wheat malts.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of grainy + wheat malts with a hint of honey sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of citrus/lemon zest, citrus/grapefruit, and floral hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which does not linger.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: This is my second Hoppy Kölsch and I think I'm a fan of this hybrid style - this might be what I wanted out of Session IPAs (light bodied and refreshing without feeling thin/watery). Super easy to drink and perfect for this very warm January evening. Definitely worth grabbing and a beer I could easily have a couple/few of in a session.
