Left upon the fires for eternity. Seeped into our maniacal necessities. And heralded in the perils of our most joyous occasions. Unearthed again, as Seasoned Skillet. A 15% blend of our finest imperial stout, 80% in Willets Bourbon barrels, 20% double barrel-aged in Willets Bourbon barrels. Carefully amalgamated and touched with @counterculturecoffee to form our most delightful approach to Seasoned Skillet to this date. A quite surprising deluge of milk chocolate pecan praline, creme brulee with bourbon cream, and vanilla-frosted tiramisu.

2017 750ml bottle, poured into tulip. Split with Mrs Strohme2. Poured a deep, dark brown, you could say it's black.
Off white fluffy and large bubbled head, lasting and lacing.

The nose is malted milk ball, coffee with milk and sugar, char and oak.

Milk chocolate, sweetened cold press coffee, oak, bourbon, coconut and oats fill my mouth. Licorice and anise make a small appearance too. The base beer is full of coffee, here, not as much. I'd like a bigger bourbon and wood prescence.

The body is silky smooth with a drying finish. My only complaint is it's a tad thin. Too bad for this stout.
Overall this beer is wonderful and unique. Glad to have tried.

2017 bottle (seems a good enough place to write it up). Poured into a teku

pours a clear pour and deep brown in the class not jet black, looks more like barley wine
faint light roast coffee and licorice
taste toffee, raisin, and licorice.

Overall for the age it was great sipper would have been fun to with a side by side with fresh but held up well and no off flavors.

Canned on 5/8/20; consumed on 12/7/20

Pours a clean, oily black hue with vague, light mahogany hues at the surface and a brief half-finger of almost creamy, khaki foam dissipating to no cap, a thin, inconsistent collar, and no lacing holding firmly to the walls of the glass.

Aroma features an earthy, medium-roast coffee and milky baker's chocolate upfront with touches of oak and bourbon interwoven delicately, though deep in the backdrop of the bouquet; burnt caramel, touches of tobacco, black cherry, and dusty cocoa synchronize/alternate fluidly over time.

Taste brings forth a steady, thoroughly intertwined milk chocolate and coffee roast as the profile builds to a pinnacle of rounded, maintained, oaky bourbon over the mid-palate, which imparts sweeter nuances of vanilla, caramel candies as it deepens with notes of burnt marshmallow, tinges of ashy malt, and rich bakers chocolate on the back end and through the finish.

Mouthfeel shows a medium body with a lower end carbonation giving in to a lighter mid-palate and vague slickness and char; slightly more heft develops firmly into the back end with an airy grit, while only mildly sticky textures are further supplemented with a moderate warming through the finish.

The bourbon barrel in this coffee-dominant stout is decidedly light, integrated as a hush in the background though coursing through the entirety of the profile; ultimately, this level of easygoing balance only carries the totality of the beer so far, leaving it both comprehensively consistent and yet unable to impress itself enough to reach that next, truly memorable level in the style.

The 2020 release was magical and was easily the best beer I've ever had from Burial.

2020 version at 14% ABV in a gold can. I thought this was pretty nice, the coffee flavor really came through nice on the palate, mild sweetness and bourbon barrel. Went back for more.

Clear whiskey on the nose, along with chocolate and coffee, plenty of roast, and dough.

On the palate, this brew presents notes of chocolate, whiskey, and roast, and has a curious bacon maple finish - curious but quite lovely.

Sticky mouthfeel.

An absolutely lovely, nearly stunning beer.
