Very Good
Ceremonial Session IPA - CitraCeremonial Session IPA - Citra
Notes: This Session IPA is carved from Pils, flaked barley, wheat and oats and is saddled with a new hop vision quest each time it is canned. Each batch features a blend of our favorite hops with a special house yeast that reacts with a robust dry-hop to provide a rounder mouthfeel, an incredible tropical aroma with a smooth juice flavor.

Can stamped 11/21/16

Pours a hazy straw yellow color under a foamy white head. Smell is light and hoppy...zesty citrus oils, peach, and grass. Similarly zesty, grassy hop flavor with a fruity Citra lean. Apricot, resin, and peppery herbs. Light, dry, and fluffy feeling. Very easy to drink, as usual - could use a little more punch from the hops, but still a pleasant hoppy drinker.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy pale yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy white head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit, tropical/peach, tropical/apricot, and grassy hops over light aromas of slightly sweet grainy malts.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of slightly sweet grainy malts. That is followed by a moderate flavor of citrus/grapefruit, tropical/peach, tropical/apricot, and grassy hops which imparts a slightly less than moderate amount of bitterness which does not linger for too long.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp.

O: Very enjoyable - super easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and really nice hop flavors + aromas. Definitely one that I could easily have a couple of and I would definitely enjoy again. As always, a very well constructed session IPA that really highlights the specific hop varietal used.

16oz can from Craft Beer Factory (Marietta, GA). 3.14. Canned 11/21/16. This batch was brewed with Citra hops. Served in a Burial snifter.

Pours a pale, muted yellow with a little under a finger of fluffy white head. A thin layer of retention spreads to a full belt around the edges. Somehow no lace finds purchase.

Smells of orange, grapefruit, a hint of lemon and a little bit of cracker.

The Citra hops are on full display in the flavor. Grapefruit, fresh orange rind, lemon zest and some faint, crisp, crackery pilsner malt.

Light body with peppy carbonation. The bitterish aftertaste is dominated by citrus skins.

Session ales are not really my thing but Burial has managed to impart some nice citrus flavor on a clean, crisp base that goes down quite easily. Ceremonial Session is a quick hop fix that can be consumed back to back without putting you into a stupor.

Canned 11/21/16; drank 12/12/16 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque yellow appearance.

A violent pour yielded a huge, noisy bright white head; nice, frothy lace.

Lemon, cane sugar & grapefruit notes in the nose.

Medium thin mouthfeel.

Lemon & faint cane sugar flavors up front; dry grapefruit peel & mild carbonation bite on the finish.

Almost like a lemon soda but with a bit more depth; a nice session NE IPA.
