Notes: Double pale ale with oranges, vanilla, and lactose.

While the light is lime. Enjoy your prime. And just don’t die this time. Lyrics with which to live your finite time upon Earth. A deathproof collaboration with our good friend and Atlanta MC, Grip. We decided to bind together the things we commonly know and love, in hopes of reaching audiences far and wide. So here is our ode to the long summer days we all endured as kids, run ragged by the sun, and yearning to hear the alluring jams of the ice cream man. Made with oats, lactose, orange zest and fresh vanilla bean. Double dry-hopped with lots of Citra, a bit of Idaho 7, and some Amarillo and Citra Cryo.

A: Pours a murky milky bright golden orange in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate pale orange + bright yellow + peach + apricot colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy bright white head that slowly reduces to a handful of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy citrus/orange + tropical/papaya + citrus/orange zest + citrus/grapefruit hops. Just shy of moderate aromas of biscuit + pale + oat + wheat malts with a slightly heavier than moderate amount of lactose sweetness. Finally there are light to moderate aromas of vanilla.

T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of biscuit + pale + oat + wheat malts with a slightly heavier than moderate amount of lactose sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of vanilla. Finally there is a moderate to strong flavor of juicy citrus/orange + tropical/papaya + citrus/orange zest + citrus/grapefruit hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away fairly quickly leaving lingering creamsicle flavors.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate to heavy amounts of creamy soft/fluffiness mid-body and a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a very creamy soft/fluffy mouthfeel. A very nice example of a milkshake IPA and really brings the creamsicle flavors + aromas.

No canning date (released on 5/19/21, so presumably canned within a few days of that date); consumed on 6/4/21

Pours a turbid, dirty golden orange body capped with a finger and a half of rocky, soapy, eggshell-white foam; great head retention leaves a slim layer of cap, a slight, frothy collar, and myriad chunky webs of stringy/spotty lacing spread evenly around the walls of the glass.

Aroma features orange oils and tinges of overripe papaya upfront, with a gritty grass interlude leading into a peaking, floral cream and soft vanilla bean over the middle and into the back half of the bouquet, melding with spikes of zesty, ripe orange to culminate with a finish note of fresh orange ice cream.

Taste opens with orange zest and earthier undertones of citrus rind as a precursor to floral vanilla and orange milkshake overtaking the profile; choppy, mossy/grassy hops accent the slight grapefruit juice back end as lush orange sorbet lingers past the swallow.

Mouthfeel brings a medium body with waves of spotty, moderate carbonation fluffing along the palate with an intermittent grit, dissipating to a creamy texture steadily over the mid-palate; a weighty bitterness grazes the back end from a distance, with brief, juicy bursts throughout, fizzle to a lightly crisp, semi-dry finish.

An honest milkshake IPA in both character and boldness, substantially defined in vivid creamsicle overtones and a comparatively mild, contrasting bitterness; an ambitious and uncomplicated, largely successful take on a fun sub-style.
