Very Good

Notes: The tart gose is big on the tropical notes of Citra hops, which creates a floral sour wheat beer that is light on the bitterness.

Reviewed from notes. Can purchased at Habersham Beverages in Savannah, GA. Poured from the 16 oz. can into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Yellow to light gold with mild haze. A good amount of visible carbonation leads to a two finger white head that fades to a ring of foam fairly quickly.

S: Citrus - lemon rind and zest. Milder orange and pineapple-forward tropical fruits. A modest lactic tart, with light cracker malts and some savory salt on the nose.

T: Big Citra hops up front – lemon and orange, pineapple and tropical fruits. Just a touch dank herbal as well. Lactic tartness and a table-salt type of salinity. A very mild Lactobacillus funk, and the palest of two-row malts. No pilsner character that I can get, but just a touch of huskiness. A mix of hop bitterness and lactic tartness in the hang.

M: A light body, maybe even a very light body, but not watery. Average carbonation sensation for style (which is to say high), and minimal if any alcohol presence.

O: A tasty beer. The hops are certainly “out of style” for any gose, but it is what they promised. But I wish they made an imperial version, where the hops and the tart and the funk were ratcheted up - I think it would be way better. As it is, an easy drinking light beer that could have been custom made for golf or beach or barbecues. But it needs to be “turned up to eleven”. Scores given are for personal preference, as scoring this as a traditional gose would be unfair to the brewers' intent, in my opinion.

Appearance: Pours a hazy goldenstraw with a modest head that fades to a ringlet; dots of lacing hang around

Smell: Tropical fruit tones waft - pineapple, papaya and passion fruit

Taste: Juicy, with the pineapple, papaya and passion fruit tones detected in the aroma; through the middle the tartness builds a bit and the finish brings a little salt

Mouthfeel: Light body with low to moderate carbonation

Overall: A very refreshing and tasty gose for a 90 degree day

A: Pours a cloudy pale yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate lemon yellow + straw yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy foamy bright white head that quickly reduces to a large patch of very thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer (about 95%) and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of floral + citrus/grapefruit hops over the top over light to moderate aromas of slightly sour wheat malts with a hint of briny saltiness.

T: Upfront there is a just shy of moderate flavor of slightly sour wheat malts. That is followed by a light flavor of floral + citrus/grapefruit hops which impart a hint of bitterness which fades away quickly. There is a slightly heavier than light amount of briny saltiness which lingers slightly in the finish.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially crisp with a light hint of acidic prickliness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink, crisp, and refreshing... perfect for a warm NC late Spring/early Summer hot day. Enjoyable and a beer I could easily drink a couple of.

Pours a clear light straw color, big billowy head. Nose is tropical and citrus with some earthy funk. Typical gose flavors with citrus mixed in. Interesting concept - usually this style is paired with a fruit or vegatable. Don't love it, but it is not completely offensive, definitely crushable.

From growler filled a few hours before drinking. Into a pint glass.

Poured a mostly clear golden yellow, small amount of white head. Not much lacing.

Smells of some funk, a sour note meddles with citrus aromas

Tastes follow similarly, bright crisp lemon tartness, followed by a citrus burst from the hops and the salt level is low so it's not a puckering gose by any means.

Low carbonation, yet easy drinking and light body.

Solid gose, expected a bit more from this but maybe it's my personal tastes. Expected a little more hop presence and sourness. But technically speaking this is a well crafted beer.

From a 16oz can

Plenty of active carbonation, though it produces a very minimal head. It is predominately clear. The least foggy Gose I have seen. It is a pale straw yellow in color..

A little bit of floral and citrus on the nose, and a nice balance of sourness and saltiness. The grains are pretty subtle.

The citra hops are a little more noticeable in the aroma for me, but there is still some pineapple and grapefruit, with a touch of candy like passionfruit. The salt is very nice, and the sourness subtle. The wheat seems to be left behind though.

Highly drinkable, and pretty good overall, but the flavors are a bit muted across the board. not sure if it is toned down by the sea salt, but this one is close to being outstanding with a bit of tweaking.
