Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into a Russian River pint glass.

A: Pours a medium brown, lighter than most milk stouts, but still nearly opaque. Forms a big off-white head that fades pretty quickly atop a medium visible carbonation.

S: Sweet, chocolate and lactose, and brown roasted malts. I get some cardboard/oxidation here, but I often find that aroma in beers that are heavy on the brown malts.

T: Follows the nose, with the addition of some bitter coffee flavors. Taste consists mostly of light chocolate and sweet lactose. A moderate amount of roasted bitterness in the hang.

M: Body is on the thin side, and the mouthfeel is too watery for style. Alcohol flavors are nearly absent.

O: First of all - it's not a bad beer, it's an easy drinker, and there's nothing offensive found at all. But, as much as I'd like to love this beer from a local brewery, this just isn't as good as it needs to be. It needs some help in the depth of flavor and the mouthfeel needs to be more rich and creamy.

Three Palms is my local brewery, and they've been getting better since the day they opened. Brew Baby is their first bottled offering, so of course I had to give it a shot. For a 4.5% milk stout, this is a brash, exciting beer that has a big roasty edge. Not too sweet like many milk stouts, this one strikes a good balance. Tasty, and a promising first bottle release.

This batch is 7.6% ABV, and its delicious. Lots of coffee, chocolate, and lactose....very smooth and silky.

Big head, especially for a stout. Very light bodied. Almost too light bodied, close to thin or watery. Definitely not expected from a milk stout. Very carbonated mouthfeel. Hits the mark on what a milk stout should taste like, however. Lactose, vanilla, roasted malts and hints of coffee.
