Notes:
It’s time for the royal debut of Double Barrel Aged King Size. This is a big first for us. It’s our first double barrel aged beer. It’s also the first beer we’ve ever put into bottles. To say we’re excited to share this with you is an understatement.
We barrel aged this special batch of our award winning Imperial Peanut Stout in two consecutive sets of freshly dumped Willett bourbon barrels. After aging in the first set of barrels, we transferred the beer to a new set of freshly dumped barrels so that it would pick up even more of that delicious Willett barrel flavor. In order to stand up to the extra barrel aging, we brewed this batch with extra malt to produce a bigger beer capable of going toe to toe with the strong bourbon flavors.
The end result is a beautifully balanced stout that is full bodied. The aroma begins with notes of peanut butter and baker’s chocolate. The palate lends flavors of robust, roasted peanuts up front, then transitions into dark, fudge brownie. The finish is bold and long lasting, with more peanut, smooth bourbon, and toasty oak.

2 September 2021 - Beer #248
Price: $40.00 on Tavour
Appearance: 4 - completely black, but no head to speak of. Nice lacing.
Nose: 5 - I knew it would be a 5 before I opened it. Peanut butter beers always smell fantastic. They rarely taste fantastic.
Taste: 4 - OK, this is really really tasty. A ton of flavor. I only wish it had less bitter roastiness.
Mouth: 5 - thick and chewy. Not quite like peanut butter, but close.
Overall: 4 - among the best peanut butter beers I've had. Well played, Junkyard.
Cheers!
