A dark India Pale Ale packed with dank, resinous hops. The addition of de-bittered black malt creates a captivating dark color while crystal malt adds caramel-like flavors. Our flagship Black IPA delivers a sharp uppercut of citrusy, piney hop character with a subtle roast note in the finish. This beer is brewed entirely with organic malts.

One of those beers that's greater than the sum of its separate/unequal parts?
L - Nice - blackstrap molasses dark, darker than dark. OK head for a sec, spotty lacing as it descends, settles and ponds.
S - Solid - smells like a "sore" roast, and you can get glimmers of the hop aromas mashed into it - nothing that distinctive, but some bitter oatmeal and burnt molasses on the nose.
T - Like most Black IPAs (they own me), this is where it shines: call it the easy Libra choice; you want roast? Check. You want some bitterness? Check. Also this is a nice weight at 6.5% and doesn't destroy me in a 12 oz serving.
F - Great mouthfeel, and it comes off as nice and full, rich, without too much added ABV "WHAP!" - much appreciated, deftly made with just the right amount of CO2
O - I love this beer, I'm visiting Sanitas next time I'm up in Boulder - new beer to me. Well made!

I'm a sucker for anything called a black IPA. This one was a decent interpretation. Served in a nonic pint glass. Very drinkable almost thirst quenching. 4.0

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, some coffee. Taste is the same, dark malts, light coffee, hops are present but well in the background. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is decent, but drinks more like a stout to me.

12 oz can. Pours brown with a big creamy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is sweet roast cola malts with some floral piney fruit.
The flavor is sweet floral malts with a little fruit and a big bitter ashy roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, don't really care for the sweet floral ash.

Overall, ok. The body I found a bit watery. Definitely wanting for hop flavor.
