On draught at The Bier Stein, hazy pale orange, small off-white head, nice lace.

Smell is spicy citrus, bubblegum.

Taste is smooth, sweet, spicy, fruity.

Mouthfeel is creamy, medium bodied, though a touch watery.

Drinkability is fine, a little heavy on the malt and spice, but clean, with nice esters.

It's hard to fault this clean and straightforward Saison. Beautiful foam on the golden yellow brew in the Affligem snifter. Classic Saison aroma with the fruity yeast and the whiff of the barnyard.

The label says it's brewed with spices but fortunately I don't taste much of that. There is a light lemony flavor, a crackery malt taste, and a touch of yeasty bitterness. Sweet to start, but dries in the mouth. The bitter edge becomes more pronounced after some sipping.

Veils of lacing along the glass to the last sip. Intriguing and well worth seeking out. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bine & Vine in San Diego. - 18 Oct 2014

I picked this up on sale at Belmont Station in Portland in a 22 oz bottle. I've been seeing this hit sale prices around town so my hopes weren't super high, but I was curious about a Mazama Saison so I grabbed it, anyway.

I'm glad I did. It poured clear with a fairly tall head for a saison. I've had a few rather flat saisons lately and think a little carbonation works so +1, already. The scent is good, classic saison with some hay and yeast quality and a bit of lemony citrus. There's a little sediment in the bottle but it stayed put until the end so I'll call this one clear.

Evidently, this has orange peel, cardamom, and black pepper in the brew. I don't notice even a hint of the pepper but the cardamom comes across very subtly and there's maybe a bit of orange in there as well. If you're not a fan of adjuncts like that, these are subtile enough that they won't bother you. On the other hand if you're looking for something really unusual, this isn't really going to satisfy you. I've had funkier saisons without the adjuncts.

This is a good, approachable saison. Interesting without being truly odd, easy to drink, with no hint of over 6% ABV. It feels like a real deal at the sale price I got ($3.75, I think, for the 22). I don't know why this is a slow mover around town. I'll have to pick up some more.

Pretty good. Not as dry of a finish as I prefer for the style but very drinkable and, for the price, could easily consider buying again.

22 oz bomber from Lifesource Grocers in Salem. $4.99eous lace all down the glass. Pours a slightly hazy honey golden colour with a large thick and creamy off white head. Subsides but leaves gorgeous lace all down the glass Fine spicy,,peppery, yeast aromas. Bubblegum and some sweet clove and banana. Nice stuff. Taste is a bit of a let down from the aroma but it has it all ,more bitter less sweet . Dry palate on this one. Dries out the tongue. But it does force another sip. A nice enough attempt and perfectly drinkable.

Picked this up in the Portland airport. I love the bottle art. Tasted 25 July 2014.

Pours a lovely hazy medium orange-yellow. Two fingers of fluffy dense white head; excellent retention and fine lacing.

Smell is light and fruity, and all things saisony. I really like it. Delicate floral notes overlaying the almost-ripe stone fruits, and a spicy tingle in the back. Yum.

Taste is good, though not as balanced and varied as the smell. Slightly tart, a bit of funk, and a hair spicy, but otherwise relatively thin on flavor. Decent.

Feel is delightful. Medium-bodied with a layer of low carbonation that makes it fluffy, followed by a rush of more substantial bubbles.

A pretty solid saison. Taste is the weak point, but everything else holds it up well. Very balanced, and right in the middle of the style's flavor spectrum.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip.

Appearance: light gold hue with a nice haze and two thick fingers of frothy ivory-white foam. I think it's outstanding for the style.

Smell: funky, a little spicy, and ever so slightly sour. Good, but a little rough around the edges.

Taste: a little tart, a little funky, and a bit buttery. There's a grassy element here, as well. It's not bad, but the funk is a bit over the top.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a big carbonation and a good creaminess.

Overall: lots of character in this one, but in general it's a bit messy and drinkability is negatively impacted by its in-your-faceitude.

On draft at the Green Dragon in PDX with a bowl of their Kobe chili for lunch. Awesome pairing. Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. Aroma brings together all the wonderful funkiness that I love about Belgians and saisons. Drinks easy and you don't notice the ABV. I have been on a Belgian kick lately and will be back for more.

I was surprisingly pleased with this Saison - a great example of the style. Pleasant from nose to finish with a reasonable price point in a land of overpriced Farmhouse/Belgian ales.
