Pumpkin Saison. De Ogen or "The Eyes" are spirits that haunt the Sonian Forest in Belgium where local legend recounts a series of gruesome murders and witnesses report small, shadowy figures staring at them through a dense fog. Brewed with pumpkin and mildly spiced, we finish De Ogen with a free-rise fermentation using "Sainsonstein's Monster" from Chicago's Omega Yeast Labs. Feel that? The Eyes are watching you.

Appearance - 4.25/5
Deep orange with a hint of red. A small amount of head. Fairly clear. A lot of carbonation can be seen. I love the color, it's brilliant
Smell - 3.75/5
Slight tartness, saison breadiness and spiciness.
Taste - 4.25/5
Very bready and saison-like. Hints of pumpkin and fall spices. I like that the fall taste is detectable, but is not the major aspect of this beer. Too often fall beers are overpowered with fall flavors. This tastes like it would be a good saison, even without the fall flavors.
Mouthfeel - 4.25/5
Medium to full bodied. Fairly crisp. Carbonation is medium-high in intensity.
Overall - 4.25/5
Overall this is a great beer and a great saison. I loved the saison taste, combined with subtle fall flavors.

Hard to rate pumpkin beers because they vary so widely. This one is especially nice since it clearly announces something of a base style (farmhouse). So, I know what I can expect, maybe.
Look = 5
Nice, dark orange with some cloudiness that I'd expect in a "farmhouse" or saison style. Fine, champagne-like bubbles & nice creamy-looking head
Smell=4.5
Spices come through, but are balanced nicely by some Belgian funk. The two seem to compliment each other very well. I can't tell where the esthers stop and the spices start. nicely done!
Taste= 4.25
Great base beer - some tartness (some wheat in the base? maybe from the yeast?). Good breadiness and then spices. Spices fade between sips, so this isn't your typical "liquid pumpkin pie" beer,
Feel=4.5
Medium-full. Definitely some body-building grains in this one. Carb is fairly high and inline with a farmhouse or saison.
Overall: 4.75
Great beer. I'm not one to seek out spiced beers, but this one is fantastic. Very well balanced and pleasant to drink. It's much more subtle than every other pumpkin beer I've ever had. I"ll definitely have this one again!

I’m usually skeptical of pumpkin beers, finding them overly sweet and over-spiced. Ten Ninety has made me a believer. De Ogen is a balanced farmhouse saison with the right touch of spices and a notable pumpkin flavor. Nice carbonation and color.

A very well balanced beer. The carbonation, color and mouthfeel are excellent. This is the best pumpkin spiced beer I've ever had.

Just had the latest release and it's as good as I remembered. Deep orange color with nice hints of pumpkin and spice on the nose. This beer isn't over spiced like some pumpkin beers. The saison yeast they use in this beer really adds depth and character that put this beer head and shoulders above other pumpkin ales. This is a go to beer for the fall and I will be buying extra to cellar!
