Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a nearly black, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger brown head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, vanilla, bourbon and chocolate with a slight oxidation note. Flavor is dark toasted malt, rich chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon and a little oak. Finishes a little thinner, but with nice lingering light bourbon and chocolate. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation, slightly thinner than expected for an oatmeal stout, but good mouth feel. A nice barrel aged imperial stout with very authentic vanilla and chocolate flavors. Balance of bourbon flavor is great. A little lighter in body and finish than expected, but wins in flavor balance and interest. A previously unknown brewery for me, and impressive enough that I'll watch for further offerings. Looks great and tastes fine.
