Crusher IPACrusher IPA

Brewed by:
Funky Buddha Brewery
Florida, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.30%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
We heart session beers. There's nothing quite like whiling away an afternoon with a six pack of something crisp, clean, and light enough to walk away from when the job is done. But we also demand flavor -- hops at that, and the more the better. Meet the Crusher: this poundable session IPA is brewed with 2-row barley and a touch of caramel malt for depth, accented with loads and loads of late-addition hops. Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops provide an IPA-sized dose of intensely fruity, citrusy hop aroma without an overly bitter finish. This is the IPA bar stools were invented for.

this is by far my favorite beer they have ever made! its always on tap and always rotating hop varietals. Citra/Nelson combo has been my favorite to date. smells like fresh cut grass, ripe and juicy tropical fruits, with a slight dankness. taste is a clear cut hop bomb, refreshing and super quaffable. it finishes somewhat dry with you always needing to take another gulp.

Fairly forgettable. Nothing special about it, and in the blend of better local IPA's this one get's left behind. I'll definitely pick it if it's the only local/craft option, but definitely won't go out of my way to get it.

Appearance: Arrives clear and copper, with a modest head that leaves some dots of lace

Smell: Citrusy grapefruit tones with a hint of caramel

Taste: The grapefruit flavors appear right away with some sweet caramel malt adding a delicate balance; after the swallow, the beer gets danker and the bitterness builds somewhat though some residual sweetness remains in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A bit sweeter than I would like but still a nice session ale that has more flavor than most in the category

This beer is way better than the score on here. Was very surprised to see it at 84 once I tasted it! Had on tap at Kush in Miami.

Decent look leads to a super dank weed and hop aroma, super deep and awesome for any hophead. Taste follows suit with a ton of grass, plant, citrus and maybe a touch of spice in the flavor. Nice easy crushable feel. Well made beer.

On tap poured into shaker pint

A: very clear straw color

S: like crushed sweet tarts some bubblegum and peach

M: semi light slightly high carb

O: a session ipa with citra I thought how could it be bad while not bad it's not that great either taste is more candy than fruit

Mini review:

Dank, hoppy, refreshing. Exactly what I want from a session IPA. Only Firestone Walker's is better, at least for my taste. Prefer this to Founder's All Day IPA (which I love).

On draft, pours a cloudy yellow orange, lots of fluffy white head that lingers.

The smell is citrus, some tea leaves, with earth notes, very chivey. The flavors are bitter citrus rinds up front with a grass finishing flavor. It is very bitter, like you bit on an orange or lemon peel rind. This is very good, but I don't find it as a refreshing as I do with other session ales

Pours a straw color with some white head that faded quickly into a thin collar. Good lacing though. Aroma is watery caramel, floral and earthy hops. Taste is about the same. Definitely thinner than most session IPAs. Low-medium carbonation and very light body.

On tap at the Buddha. Served in a pint glass.

Appearance - Hazy orange body. Nice white head and pretty stick lacing.

Smell - Grapefruit and orange. Grainy malt. Nice.

Taste - Grapefruit more prominent. Musty pine hop flavor. Slight graininess and a resiny bitter finish.

Mouthfeel - Light. Crisp. Bitter, but sessionable.

Overall - Simple beer, tasty but simple.
