Style: Gose

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
We're quite fond of the Gose style, a traditional German sour beer that blends the subtle tartness of a Berliner weisse with the addition of kettle salts and coriander. We took it a step further and infused it with snozzberries... well what we think they might taste like, anyway.

Poured from a bottle for our Snozzberry tasting, into a Jester King wine glass.

Appearance: First things first, Abbbp’s glass is significantly darker than mine. More of an amber, mines more yellow. Hazy, and the white, one-finger head dissipates fast on both of ours. I’m imagining the darkness is because his was poured second and he got more of the yeast and sediment.

Smell: Loads of passionfruit. Hints of salt, and definitely sour in a Berliner type way. Some ripe banana flavors are mixing in with the passionfruit too.

Taste: Passionfruit is there, but much less so than in the nose. That mustiness of the passionfruit though works wonderfully with the sourness of the base beer, which does have a slight saltiness to it. Not getting any guava, but I’ve got no problems with passionfruit being the main fruit flavor here. Maybe a little bit of the banana I got from the nose. This is frickin delicious. Absolutely top notch.

Mouthfeel: Very prickly carb, almost like soda, and lingers for a while. Kinda sticky.

Overall: Delicious. One of the best sours I’ve ever had. Would love to try more Funky Buddha now, having had this. Just fantastic.

22 oz. bottle poured into a taster. Gose with tropical fruit.

Appearance - Flat hazy orange body. A couple floaties.

Smell - Tropical fruits. Passion fruit is strong. A little lemony. Smells very nice.

Taste - Much more lemon and grain. Minimal saltiness. Tropical fruits are less intense than the aroma, but still present. Sour, but not as intense as other Buddha Berliners.

Mouthfeel - Light and crisp. Low carbonation. Drinkable.

Overall - Quite refreshing and flavorful. I was afraid it would taste like a Buddha berliner, but it has avoided the pitfalls from which they suffer.

Pours a hazy and slightly orange hued golden yellow with a thin ring of white foam on the edge of the glass.

Mildly stinging acidic fruity notes of raspberry, mango, passion fruit, and stone fruits pummel the nostrils.

The flavor is a medley of fruit flavors namely peach/apricot, mango, and raspberry and the bacteria lends a bit of acidic tartness. A breath of minerality and a touch of salt are noticeable after the swallow.

Light-bodied, medium-high carbonation, acidic, minerally, tart, and refreshing.

Overall, had this on tap at the brewery and I'm glad I did, a beautifully refreshing and tasty beer.

On tap at EBF.

This one pours a hazy and almost radioactive yellow color, with a small head and just a bit of lacing.

Smells just absurd- I have no idea what snozzberry actually should smell like, or what fruits they actually used- but I can guess its passion fruit. There's also some orange tang and lemon candy on the nose, and a good amount of salt.

This is super ridiculous. There's so much sweet and sour fruit flavor here- invokes the spirit of Willy Wonka for sure. There's sour passion fruit and lemon candy, with some guava as well. The finish is very salty, and quite sour.

This has a crisp and acidic mouthfeel, with a good level of carbonation.

This is one of Funky Buddha's best beers for sure.
