On tap at the brewery, into a snifter. Viscious, hazy amber colored with a fluffy, white head. Huge tropical fruit aroma with nice notes of pine and citrus. The taste follows with citrus and juicy, tropical fruit taking the forefront. There's a great balance within this beer. Overall, it's juicy and sweet, but with a freat hoppy backing.

My favorite IPA from Funky Buddha. Really high ABV, but you'd never know. Hop forward without being unbalanced. Caramel color, robust flavor. Great beer

12 oz pour on tap into snifter

A: very nice Amber body with amazing clarity not much of a head nice lacing on the glass

S: mango, pineapple, light biscuity finishes a little herbal little bit of an alcohol smell

T: very juicy citrus mango pineapple and a little cantaloupe very little bitterness

M: light to a little watery never would guess this beer is the big ABV

O: very nice fruit taste and no hints of alcohol which Is worrisome in a beer so smooth. The only downside to this quite good beer is the watery feel I would like more body in my big iPAs not a lot but a little more.

Funky Buddha Small Axe Big IPA
On tap at the brewery in Oakland Park

Nice crystal clear dark golden with a white colored head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is booze, sweet makes, citrus. Taste is bitter hops, citrus rind and pine; malt is subtle, booze is significant. Kinda taste like a boozier Enjoy By. Drinkability is good even though it's boozy. Overall, damn good.

For an IPA with a 10% ABV, this beer is a very easy drink. It's smooth and not at all boozy. Their bartender had a great passion for it as he announced it was the brewery's best IPA. Cloudy like a north east IPA and had that citrus feel you look for in such a beer but it wasnt a citrus punch in the face, more an after flavor.

On tap at First Magnitude. Murky orange gold pour. Stale dead hops and some biscuity malts on the nose. Flavor follows that closely, with a dry bitterness. This was awfully disappointing, and I hope the keg has just been sitting around a while or something. Otherwise, poor effort by FB.

On tap at the Florida brewery in December 2014 - from notes.
This DIPA is suitably hoppy without being overly bitter or harsh.
Overall: recommended.

Mini review:

Mostly Citra in the flavor; lots of lemon and lime, some greenhouse pungency but far from "dank". Very flavorful. Not a lot of malt influence, for the better.

Served in a snifter at their new facility in Oakland Park, FL.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is an orange color with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Nice lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Candied orange, herbal, grassy, caramel, bready, and some alcohol.

Taste: Same as above with mild tingly bitterness in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, boozy, tingly bitterness, medium to full bodied, and medium carbonation.

Overall: I enjoyed this beer months ago in Boston and no good to get it directly from the source.

On draft, pours a bright orange, good carbonation, a little bit of white head fills the glass.

The nose is mute and subdued for what I was expecting. Even after I let it warm up, still the same. Some citrus and piney notes, a little caramel malt. The flavor is more pine, but it doesn't balance well with the caramel sweetness. A bit messy. The mouthfeel is fine, but it leaves a gross aftertaste in my mouth. This is just ok.
