Had on tap. Pours opaque, dark brown in color with minimal head. Taste is neapolitan ice cream over a nice porter base. Big vanilla start, followed by chocolate, and then the strawberry on the aftertaste..all over a slightly roasty malt backbone. Light bodied, sweet, with moderate carbonation. Makes for an excellent dessert beer. Will get this one again.

Had this on tap at Smiths Billiards in Springfield. The beer appeared jet black with a slightly small head that dissipated quickly. Aromas were utterly incredible with a rich burnt vanilla smell coming across. The taste followed the incredible nose by being a good mix of light milk chocolate with a boozy vanilla. The beer is wicked creamy with a low carbonation. I thought it supplemented the taste well, but it could use a little bit more carbonation to the body. Overall, this was an incredible beer in terms of aroma and taste.

The old expression, "If you didn't want to go to Minneapolis, why did you get on the bus?" applies to this beer. I had this on draft at Area 4, a great pizza restaurant in Cambridge, has a great beer menu, and I was so excited to see funky Buddha on the tap list. It was under carbonated unfortunately, and it was a vanilla porter. I wish I would've had the Paulaner Hef or a nice New England IPA, but it was OK.

this was either going to be really good or really bad, and like so many of the other flavored beers these guys do, would be an avoidable gimmick by almost any other brewery. this one is so beautifully balanced between all the elements, i was shocked how well the strawberry comes through, how restrained the vanilla is, and how vibrant the chocolate is start to finish, a magical trinity. i could probably do without the lactose in here, and i get that the sweetness and creamy elements it adds are important for the concept, but it is just on the edge of too sweet, and that sweetness lingers long in the finish after the other elements have faded away. i was surprised to see this one so low alcohol, it seems like one that would almost be better suited to high abv, instead of some of their flavored imperial cream ales and such, but i do appreciate it being a little more approachable too. the strawberry is the cool part i think, lots of vanilla and chocolate stouts and porters out there, but the berry comes through great even in such a dark and complex brew, it adds a freshness, a sexiness, its awesome. smooth and creamy feeling, literally like melted ice cream. there is a great natural cocoa flavor too, rather than a sweeter chocolate complexion that would put this over the top. we all agreed this was one of our favorites from the whole range of beers here! would love to drink it again...

Appearance: Arrives with a fudge brown color and a beige head; an inch or so of foam piles up and leaves strands behind

Smell: Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry tones waft - jast as expected

Taste: The strawberry tones sweep to the forefront, with the sweet aspect prominent; chocolate and vaniila flavors emerge, through the middle, with all three being combined in one scoop, after the swallow; rather sweet finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Another fine facsimile beer from Funky Buddha but, like all of the other vanilla-oriented beers I tasted over the weekend, this one finishes rather sweet; better than the others I tried over the weekend (I'm So Excited, I'm So Scared and Jitterbug-Frappucino) as it is not cloying

It's just unreal how perfectly FB can capture flavors. There really isn't anything to say about this beer other than it tastes exactly like three-flavor neapolitan ice cream just like you'd have at your birthday party as a little kid. It's such a treat to drink. The guy behind the bar mentioned they use a crazy amount of strawberries in it, and while you get some of that fragrant fruity slight tartness and all, everything else just comes together so perfectly and harmoniously along with it. Delicious. What talent.

Mmmm this was delicious! Had it as part of a flight and had to get a full pour after. Pitch black beer with a nice half inch of head. This beer smells and tastes exactly like neopolitan ice cream!! Wow! Funky Buddha keeps impressing me. Bottle this please!

Mini review:

Strawberry and vanilla are there but subtle. Chocolate comes through strong in the finish. Had this on nitro, which brought a perfect mouthfeel for this kind of dessert style dark beer. Loved this.
