Bust out your favorite tiki mug and make an offering to the Huki Idol. This juicy, double IPA is brewed with real passion fruit and lime juices, then dry-hopped with lush Mosaic hops and fresh mint. The result is a godlike grog that packs a wallop of tropical flavor. 'Okole maluna!

12 oz bottle cracked from 4 pack purchased from Total Wine in Daytona Beach. Unknown bottle date. Enjoying this in my Huntsville, AL hotel room.

Pours a glorious hazy honey-peach color with a tall busy head of 3 fingers. Lace destroys the glass as it recedes.

I'm actually getting a little hay and farmhouse funk on the nose. Behind that, sharp notes of cutting mint, lemon rind, peach, and orange rind.

Flavor is incredibly sweet, almost like an imperial fruit beer with extra hops. Bubble gumminess meets sweet orange juice, limeade, papaya, and mint. Very low hop bitterness, to a fault. Slight alcohol burn at the finish. Acidity also lingers. This is minty and sweet and pushes the beer outside the boundaries of a typical IPA style guideline.

Carbonated, mildly creamy, acidic fruitiness lingering on.

Overall, it's like a limemade with a mint leaf. While that may sound pleasant by the pool (and I'm sure it is), it was not what I was expecting out of a beer marked "IPA". Lots of tropical fruit, mint leaf, and residual sugars, while hop profiling is kept to a bare minimum and left hanging in the background on a lemon note. For some it's enjoyable, for me it's barely decent. I'd rather have their Hop Gun any day of the week!

Hazy orange pour with some sedimentation. Outstanding head volume. Retention and lacing are typical of a DIPA (8.0% ABV), which is to say poor by typical IPA standards. Nevertheless, it meets outstanding.

Very good nose but lacks the burst of aroma for an outstanding classification. Complexity is outstanding, just muted by a lack of intensity. It is outstandingly balanced. There is just enough bready sweetness to let the passion fruit shine and hints of pineapple, lime and mint waif over the base.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 3/16/2018. Pours very hazy/cloudy golden orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/lightly tart/tangy passion fruit, limes, mint, fruit skin, citrus peel/zest, lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, light peppercorn/pine, honey, biscuit dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of passion fruit, lime, mint, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big juicy/lightly tart/tangy passion fruit, limes, mint, fruit skin, citrus peel/zest, lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, light peppercorn/pine, honey, biscuit dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy passion fruit, limes, mint, fruit skin, citrus peel/zest, lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, peppercorn, pine, honey, biscuit dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of passion fruit, lime, mint, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and tart/tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an awesome fruited DIPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of passion fruit, lime, mint, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/acidic/tangy/drying finish. Fairly soft feel, not aggressive. Extremely juicy/vibrant limes and passion fruit; balanced Mosaic hop complexity, and bready malt backbone. Touch of dankness. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Mint fits in perfectly, and is not overwhelming. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

This more like a fruit beer than an actual IPA. I have had fruity IPA's before, where the frutiness comes from infused fruits or there's a lovely juiciness from the hops used. I do not get any bitter IPA flavors with this beer. It's more like beer mixed with a fruity, tiki drink. If that's your thing, then you'll probably love this beer.

Pours into a nonic a hazed tangerine-like color with a very well defined bone white half finger head that sticks like glue to the glass. Some mild stone fruit in the nose with only a hint of tropical notes,I get a tinge of barnyard funk like a few others who have reviewed noted.Quite tart wich I didn't expect on the palate with hefty passion fruit coming thru,a little to much sourness for my liking really.Totally not what I was expecting and/or looking for but it's good for those who like this sorta thing.I give it a respectful review because this beer has a following for what it is.

On tap at Prohibition Kitchen in Saint Augustine. A nice break from the touristy garbage in most of downtown.

This isn’t so much an IPA as it’s a fruit beer. Barely any hop presence. Just passionfruit and some lime juice with a hint of mint. Kind of disappointing. But fits the description somewhat.
