Celebrating a notorious American classic, we brew this ale with barley, rye, and corn; then age it in High West Bourbon barrels and finish with orange peel and cherries.

The pour is dark brown. The taste is a big roasted malt presence, followed by big corn, rye, some bourbon, orange peel, & cherries. The 10% abv is blended well. This drink is somewhat different from your regular old fashioned drink. Cheers! A-

Clear, dark amber and brown body topped with a thick, creamy light khaki hued head. Huge aroma of roasted grains and nuts; caramel and charred wood. Big flavors; cocoa and caramel wrapped in a charred brown sugar coating; a very mild note of cherries and cola; charred wood; mildly boozy; rye earthiness and spiciness base-lining everything. Heavy body; a bit oily and spongy on the palate; soothing residual sugars coat the palate; alcohol warmth and dryness throughout.

I've never had an old fashioned, so I can't really base things off that, but as an American strong ale, this thing screams out earthiness and wood-like warmth with a very slight estery presence. The ABV is noticeable but not dominating or overbearing. It has a nearly smokey and earthy sweetness that just makes for a perfect sipper whenever the mood for a strong beer should strike.

Minimal head production - no surprise. Body is a dark, nutty brown, apparently fairly clear, with purple hints that make it into the scant foam.

Nose reveals very little. Bourbon, nuts, caramel, and hints of orange and cherry. It's a pleasant aroma, but surprisingly restrained.

No such restraint on the palate - and it keeps building and building, delivering through the entire sip. Nuts and caramel up front, quickly yielding to cherries, then to bourbon, then to bourbon and cherries together. Nutty and chocolatey finish, with rye, leather, and bourbon. Not an exact replica of the cocktail, as it's less bitter and the bourbon is naturally less strong, but it's a pretty darn good facsimile for a beer.

Rating the taste and feel to my subjective experience: tasty and smooth. Rating the overall based on the success in capturing their intent: damn good.
