Notes: Our unfiltered and refreshing German-style wheat beer is full on flavor yet light on the palate. Authentic hefeweizen yeast creates the compelling aromas of bananas, citrus, and cloves, while the all wheat and malt body perfectly captures the brilliance of a golden Florida sunset.

Fort Myers Beach, FL

Poured from a 12oz bottle (best by October 17th, 2021) into a weizen glass.

Look: A beautiful and consistent Deep Yellow (4 SRM), cloudy enough to let you know that it is true to the style. Fluffy head with large bubbles bursting through the top. Lace clings to the glass in delightful arcs. The head is eager to return when summoned, long after it nearly dissipates.

Smell: Overall very mild in aroma, reminiscent of freshly-baked banana bread, almost brown bananas, perhaps adorned with walnut skin. A funk hides within a thick head.

Taste: Primarily tastes of banana bread whose sweetness is cut short in a pleasing manner by an expression of citrus. Aside from that, hop character is mostly absent, appropriate for the style yet effective in its purpose.

Feel: The bubbles provide a sharp and tingling sensation which perpetually marry the light body of the brew.

Overall: A fantastic and authentic take on the classic German Hefeweizen. Closest comparison would be Weihenstephaner's world-class offering. An experience bridge direct to Munich. The only way it could meaningfully be improved would be some additional complexity, perhaps in the form of a spiced characteristic. What you get on your first sip is a perhaps too-confident sign of the journey to follow.

Look - looks more like a golden ale, IPA, lager, etc than a Hefe. Clear golden color with a lasting white head. This would get a good review if it was any of those other beers
Smell - grainy slight clove and even less light banana
Taste - more grain wheat forward with a slight banana clove but very slight
Feel - lighter body with a slight crisp carbonation
Overall - ok but missing the real hefe on several levels. I think they should just call it a wheat ale instead.

First review in a long while! Poured from a can while visiting the Florida gulf coast.

Pours a rather clear honey color with a thin bubbly white head. I expected more cloudiness with the “unfiltered” on the can and the head was a bit disappointing.

Smell is grainy, hoppy, spicy, and packed with cloves. Pretty nice.

Taste follows the nose. The wheat character is really evident in the finish. There is a small bit of skinniness that makes it stand out a bit.

Feel is light and refreshing. Good carbonation.

Overall - pretty good as beers go, but average as Hefes go. Would drink again if in this area of Florida.

12oz can, dated 08.13.2020, poured into a stemless wine glass.

The beer pours a slightly cloudy honey color, golden hues with a fizzy finger or so of white head that dissipates immediately with no retention nor lacing. The aroma is okay, clovey with hearty grain, a bit of hop spice and lingering banana. The flavors are in line, clovey yeast, banana fruit, a bit of spice, hop oils and pale grains and feels a bit dry. The mouthfeel is okay, lively medium body, crisp and bubbly that struggles to coat and finishes with a sharp bite.

Verdict: A fairly pedestrian attempt at a Hefeweizen from Funky Buddha. It doesn't leap out of the glass or offer anything dynamic but it's a serviceable beer that will help beat the Florida heat.

While we all know The Buddah is about enlightenment, you may want to search elsewhere. Smell is misleading. Immediate taste if of banana and a hint of the clove. The feel in the mouth is also something to be desired. (That's what she said) Not the worst but probably would not recommend. Check out our full review on our YouTube channel 2GUYS1GARAGE!!

Drinking this from a can poured into a pint glass.
Appears yellow, nice head, minimal lacing, head dropped quickly.
Smells wheat, bready, fruity, lemony.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium light for the style.
Overall a nice Hefeweizen that I would definitely order again.

Smell: Yeast, orange and lemon peel, wheat.

Taste: Orange peel, banana, bright and bready wheat malt, winter spices.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and highly carbonated.

Overall: A warming, sweet beer surprisingly suited for colder weather.

Wonderful example of the style...probably the best US hefe I have ever had. Get it...you will not regret it. Great head leaving beautiful lace on the glass...all the clove and banana goodness you want from a hefe. Great stuff!

A frothy head that doesn't fault to over-carbonation. The nose has notes of toasty malt, sweet wheat, ripe banana, light caramel, light honey, and lighter notes of citrus and clove. The nose has strong sweet corn soup note that is actually very inviting. The taste gives a stronger way to the citrus, banana, wheat, and a crisp spice. The sips are fairly light and don't build dramatically on the palate and it has an excellent mouthfeel which makes it very enjoyable to drink many at a time.

Frothy white head with a hazy, light golden body. Aroma of toasted grain, banana, clove. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of banana and clove. Far from the better hefes in aroma, texture and taste.

Cloudy light amber with a foamy white head that dissipates quickly; It has a rich, but not strong, good beer smell; Nice tangy mouthfeel. The flavor more strongly repeats what the aroma hinted at, slightly sweet with a bit of fruitiness.

Poured from a can into a nucleated Pilsner.

Look: This beer is medium gold with a thick head and much carbonation. The look is pretty good and fits the style pretty well, I suppose. A good lacing is left on the glass.

Smell: The nose on this beer is citrusy, fruity, grainy and yeasty. I get hints of banana, clove, orange peel, wheat and yeast.

Taste: The taste is a good reflection of the aroma. Banana, clove, citrus, yeast, wheat— it’s all there. There’s a good malt sweetness and a balanced hop presence. The spice in this one is not overdone and is really good. It’s nice for a hot day.

Feel: The mouthfeel is quite light. It would make a fantastic lawnmower beer. There’s nothing spectacular about the feel or anything, but the carbonation is nice.

Overall: A decent beer. Good for hot days or when you want something light but tasty. It’s balanced; taste wise. And the aroma is pleasant. I think it would be a good introduction to hefeweizen, or Belgian ales, to anyone who has never had one.

I can say it taste good but the after taste got me sick if you drink too much of it. I have to say its way too expensive in a gas station for a 6 pack its about $12 which is not worth it even if its 7% alcohol. I had to go to Total Wine for a cheaper price of $8.99 for a 6 pack but you can get cheaper beer for way less like Steel Reserve or Colt 45 Black that has 8% alcohol but with a worst taste. It taste good when its API but damn it gets me dizzy sick if I drink all 6. I dont recommend to drink all 6 in one day its a beer to drink once in a while but not every weekend or every day.

Pours an orangish hazy color with plenty of carbonation and a bright white thin head. Smell is a little off to me almost pilsner like. Taste is mild and has the signature hefe esters that I've grown to love and just a touch of spice. The mouthfeel is typical, a little thick but has a sweet mild aftertaste as well. Overall, this brew is a solid contender and I'm glad I took a chance on it

Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. can: slightly hazy, golden-orange with a quickly receding head - not a sustained fluffy and foamy head like a German Hefe.

Very nice and spicy aromas of bananas and cloves.

The flavor begins with a tart, slight fruity flavor and then moves to hints of bananas and hints of cloves. While all the classic flavors are present, they seem muted by the world class standards. The ale is slightly thin-bodied, though it maintains a refreshing character throughout and a nice semisweet character lingers on the palate.

While this hefe is better than a lot of American interpretations I have tried, it falls short of the German Classics. Still well worth trying.

Served in a pint glass

This beer pours a hazy golden hue and is topped with three inches of off white head that leaves decent lacing.

The smell is banana, clove, coriander, and orange.

The tastes has spices. I get banana, coriander and orange.

Medium bodies with an effervescent mouthfeel.

This beer seems more wit than hefe. Maybe a hybrid of the two. It’s refreshing enough here in Florida visiting my grandfather at Del Bocco Vista Phase 2.

L - golden with a good amount of clarity with a thick white head that dissipates moderately quickly leaving behind some lacing
S - Wheat, yeast, bananas, cloves - but not particularly strong.
T - Follows the nose with wheat and yeast up front and throughout intermixed with notes of bananas, cloves, citrus, light spices, floral notes, cracker, light fruit notes, maybe some bubble gum
F - Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp.
O - A really nice representation of a hefeweizen that hits all the right notes, but does't really do anything that makes it stand out for me.

Pours a clear light straw color - like Miller lite. An ample stream of carbonation ascends from the bottom of the glass, like miller lite. Aromas of artificial mango and artificial tropical fruit. Taste is ok; esthers play into the banana and bubblegum flavors, but they taste artificial. Carbonation is on point for the style. Overall I am disappointed with the beer, I would hope it tastes better fresh. I purchased a can to try at Total Wine Naples, and after I tasted it, I noticed the can date was 7/5/18. Four month old beer on the shelf is dissappointing as well...

Clear golden pour with a touch of amber. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Quite impressive for the style.

Very good nose that has a slightly sweet base with a whiff of orange. Yeast also presents in a mild fashion underneath. Light lemon notes and a touch of wheat chaff.

Light body that is quite smooth with a touch of slick texture. Carbonation / body balance is quite good and approaches world class. The middle effervesces nicely delivering a prickly mouthfeel. The finish is finely bubbled and prickly.

The flavor profile is quite outstanding. Flavors present as suggested by the nose. Orange is less pronounced and lemon more so. The base delivers a bit of wheat in cracker rather than biscuit fashion. For the style, clove is light and was absent in the nose. Sweetness is unusually high for the style but balances perfectly and allows the orange notes to emerge. Bitterness is light and is noticed in the finish and its slow fade out. Light clove lingers.

Looks like golden sunshine in my glass, nice amount of haze, and a sudsy off-white head. Cloves are very prominent on the nose, and there’s also a citrus note that is intriguing.

The cloves are also noticeable on the taste, but the citrus is more prominent and there’s also a banana flavor which draws all the elements together nicely. A really nice interpretation of the style that is very refreshing.

12 oz bottle poured into SN swirly glass.

Deep gold color with a nice amount of transparency. Head is tall and fluffy as expected. Lots of nice loopy lacing on the glass.

Aromas of hay and grain dust, with notes of clove and bubble gum.

Flavor is what I'd describe as "beery" - lots of maltiness and that golden goodness going on. Underneath that is slight tin, bubble gum, and clove. Slight white pepper.

Feel is enjoyable, it's nicely carbonated with a pleasant biting co2 burn and has a touch of creaminess but isn't overly thick. Nice crisp finish with lingering fruity acidity.

Overall, while it's not Weihenstephaner, this is still pretty decent for a domestic Hefe. Recommended to try at least once - it's enjoyable and easy.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, bottled on 4/16/2018. Pours fairly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/fruity/earthy hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with solid strength. A bit too yeasty on aromas. Taste of lemon, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy bitterness, yeast spiciness, and wheat tang on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/fruity/earthy hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a delicious hopped hefeweizen. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/fruity/earthy hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mildly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. A unique take on the style, with the added American hop notes. Very well balanced between German yeast, citrus/fruity/earthy hops, and pale/wheat malts. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example otherwise.

I had this on tap at T-Rex Cafe while on vacation with my family at Disney World. I actually only got it becauae there were no IPA's or Stout's available....and I am glad I did. The slightly hazy, orange color was on display in thr classic pilsner glass with nice lacing. It was was served with a lemon wedge which I quickly discarded. It had a very pleasant aroma, with hints of banana and just plain sweetness making this one of the most aromatic I have had in a while. It had a clean taste, again with hints of banana and overall sweetness that had good carbonation, as bubbles could be seen rising from the bottom until the glass was almost empty. It had a good finish, sitting very light as I expected. This reminded me of how much I used to enjoy Hefeweizen's in the past, as well as made me realize I need to revisit this style more often now.
