Florida, United States

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our unfiltered and refreshing German-style wheat beer is full on flavor yet light on the palate. Authentic hefeweizen yeast creates the compelling aromas of bananas, citrus, and cloves, while the all wheat and malt body perfectly captures the brilliance of a golden Florida sunset.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Cigar City pint glass.

White thick creamy 1 finger head,retains well.Light carbonation,also retains well.Golden straw color,clear but hazy.

The nose is banana, bread, wheat, and hints of citrus. This beer has a nice sweet smell to it.I also get a small hint of yeast, nothing offensive...Very pleasant actually.

The palate follows the nose I get wheat/yeast blended with banana/citrus.Again it has a nice sweet and also sticky taste to it.

The body is medium light, with a slight silky texture it.Smooth, dry finish, with slight tingling on the tongue from the carbonation.

I'm not a huge fan of wheat beer, but this is a nice beer for a hot summer day.One thing I will mis about Florida is,sitting in the pool, and watching tv on the back porch, while drinking Floridians!!! This is a very refreshing beer.

A - Poured standard 12 oz bottle into standard pint glass. Non-existent head, no lacing. Cloudy sunset color. Claims to be unfiltered but, unlike it's German counterparts, there are no remnants of yeast or wheat settled at the bottom of the bottle. Thus, it must be filtered to some degree.

S - Muted notes of banana, citrus, bread/ biscuit, and clove.

T - If there was such a thing as a Hefeweizen light, it would be this beer. With that being said, what it lacks in overly sweet, full-bodied flavor, it more than makes up for in its refreshing character. This beer does something magical- it turns the hefeweizen style into a amazing tasting wheat-inspired, easy drinking, pilsner.

M - Beyond crisp, clean, and refreshing. You could drink these in 90 degree weather at a beach.

D - Fantastic. This beer is very sessionable. That's a rariety for a hefeweizen. With that being said, this isn't so much a true hefe as it is a hybrid. It is a good hybrid though. It's not the best domestic hefe I had by far but it is memorable and enjoyable. I would absolutely buy this one again.

This is my first beer from Funky Buddha and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed despite it being a "shelf" beer. Really great color and smell that fits the Hefeweizen style perfectly. My non-craft drinking friends enjoyed this one as well. Tons of bananas and cloves. I could drink this all day. FB definitely made a great first impression.

Notes from 7/2012

A somewhat hazy pale yellow pour with a thin cap of white foam. Huge banana aroma with just a bit of lemon. Taste is similar, with a touch of bubblegum thrown in. Definitely light in flavor and body, even for the style, which was intentional from what I understand after talking with the brewers. A slight tartness as well, but pretty refreshing overall.

Tap at Proof. Slightly hazy tan-orange with off white head, medium-thick collar. Aroma is really citrusy, I get some plenty of wheat-like grains, and some berry. Light in body, low carbonation. Thin mouthfeel, this beer fades quickly from my palate. Taste is pretty much exactly like the aroma.

A quite clear hefe. Nice flavor, high pound ability. Lacks a bit of body-perhaps from the filtering of yeast but went down real easy on a hot Tampa night.

Brilliant gold colored with a fingernail of pale white around the rim and covering about half of the top. There's a massive amount of small carbonation bubbles erupting from within. While I do detect some banana esters in the aroma I would also have to say I find some pale wheat and perhaps some light lemon notes. The banana esters dominate the flavor with the pale wheat showing in the back of the palate. The mouth is very light, dry, and smooth.
