Thanks to dimenhetfield for sharing this one.

A - Nice amber/brown color that had a small head on it. Little bit of stick left on the sides.

S - Smell is very nice and candy like. Smells a bit big for a dubbel, with a lot of brown sugar and fruit. Quite pleasant.

T - Taste is very nice, if a bit sweet. Lots of candy sugar with some fruit for flavor. A lot of people will go for this, as the taste is good, particularly as there isn't anything offensive to take away from the candy taste. Some clove and banana fill this one out.

M - Medium bodied, lower carbonation.

O - Really impressive beer for the style, particularly as a lot of places turn out bad belgian styles all the time. Quality beer from a brewery that is quickly devloping a presence.

Going to go with dubbel, even though I think it's on the high end of the ABV spectrum for the style. In any case, Funky Buddha's first Belgian-style offering, generously shared by dimenhetfield. Served in a Russian River tulip.

A - Quick-dissolving white foam settles to a thin ring and a few wisps, leaving minimal lace. Dark semi-transparent amber body.

S - Berries, nuts, candi sugar, fruity esters, a light medicinal note, and a hefty dose of dark fruits malt character.

T - Taste is actually an improvement in my book, as the medicinal note disappears and leaves behind more candi sugar, caramel, dark fruit, and light anise flavors.

M - Pleasant lowish carbonation, sticky medium-full body, and a slightly dry and tannic finish.

D - This is quite good, and my impression improved a bit when I found out it was around 9%, as the alcohol is very well hidden. There was tragically little to be shared, as I would have enjoyed another glass of this one. I'm not a huge fan of dubbels, but I enjoyed this quite a bit. An impressive first attempt at Belgian beers - looking forward to more offerings from Funky Buddha Lounge.

I had to bring something really good to impress the Chicago crowd so what did I do. I end up bringing a trappist style beer from the Funky Buddha that hasn't even been released yet and it seemed to go over really well. The aroma is sweet, hints of brown sugar and candy. Flavor is a little sweet but still a very awesome first attempt at this style.
