On tap at Funky Buddha - This beer is great!!! I never like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and still do not like them. However, this beer makes me want to like them. Lot of peanuts and jelly in the nose. The taste is just how wish a peanut butter and jelly sandwich should taste like. Keep up the solid work, Funky Buddha.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a deep brown color with a one-finger foamy off-white head that reduces to a ring around the glass

S- smells exactly like a PB & J sandwich, the peanuts, the fruity jelly, even the bread. FB has a crazy ability to mimic food aromas

T- the 'jelly' is noticed first and almost comes across as a blue raspberry flavor. Mid-palate brings out some roasty nutty flavors, the finish is malty and gives some bready notes. Lingers of more berry flavor

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish

O- aroma was spot on, the taste was more jelly-forward, still a great beer

this is insane. i dont know why one would set out to make a beer like this, but it could not possibly be executed any better than this one is. its like the pbj sandwiches my mom used to pack in my school lunch when i was a kid (although those did have crusts). i get the flavor and texture of sliced whole grain bread, filling and dense. the peanut butter isnt greasy in the beer, but its smooth and sticky, and the flavor is on point. as for the jelly, hard to tell, but i would say grape in here, but in the beer its more of a generic fruit vibe. i have had beers like this before, but they always grossed me out. this tastes like a liquid pbj sandwich, and its genius if you like that sort of thing. you just have to be impressed with it. i think the brown ale base was the right call, there is a nuttiness in the grain bill that supports the peanut butter, and a chocolate malt kiss that brings it all together. if you like the sandwich, you will like the beer, it could not be more spot on in terms of flavor accuracy to the real thing. i would love to sit in on brew day for this!

A-murky brown color at the base with a lighter red brown emerging toward the surface, no significant head or lacing

S-peanuts, yeasty bread

T-peanut butter, toasted bread, and some sweetness (jelly), not much else of note

F-light body with light carbonation, slick oily feel yet not a lot of body

O-an interesting brown ale with novel flavors but wish it had a little more body

Complete garbage. I really have no positive thoughts for this beer. If you seek pb&j beers specifically, there are a plethora of better options.

Funky Buddha Brewery "No Crusts"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED 10/30/18"
$4.89 @ ABC Fine Wine & Spirits #139, Wildwood, FL

Look: Moderately clear dark chestnut brown with a ruby sheen beneath a full head of creamy khaki colored foam. The head falls steadily to become a thin collar but it somehow still manages to leave some nice lace behind.

Smell: Unusual with an odd earthy note that's coming from peanut butter but smells more like a very old piece of chocolate candy or brown malt. It's even a little wood-like.

Taste: Peanut butter appears more clearly opposite some sweet fruitiness that appears like raspberry and red grape, wrapped in soft caramel, toast, and light milk chocolate. It's sweetish but not too sweet, and could serve as a dessert beer or a regular beer, although I doubt it would have too much repeat drinkability. A moderate bitterness balances it and it finishes mostly dry with some fruitiness fading to leave behind peanut, a dusting of coal powder, and toasty bread. It's interesting that it's named "No Crusts" because I definitely get some bread crust in the finish.

Feel: Medium in body and gently crisp-then-smooth across the palate.

Overall: It's not the best PB&J beer that I've had but it hits the mark. Worth trying.

I have had the opportunity to have this beer on several different occasions on tap at the Buddha and each time I drink it I am amazed and very impressed. I could smell this beer all day long.

Upon drinking the beer, it has the perfect balance of the peanut taste as well as the fruity jelly taste. It is great that the base beer is a brown ale as I don't believe it would taste as good with a porter.

I don't feel that I could drink more than one of these in a sitting, but it is definitely a nice treat for a change. I will take this beer over a PB&J sandwich any day. The Buddha definitely nailed this beer spot on.

Strong notes of peanut butter and jelly off the nose. Initial taste more jelly forward with finish of light peanut butter, incredible beer, exactly as advertised.

On tap at Capone's during PBW. This was the one FB beer that really didn't "wow me."

The beer pours a reddish brown color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is complex and unusual, as I pick up lavendar, light peanut butter and dust. The flavor profile seemed to replicate the nose pretty closely, but with some sweet grape jelly flavor as well. The beer was a bit thin on the palate as well, which I guess is to be expected for a 6% abv. beer. Otherwise, the beer was light to medium bodied, with a fairly long finish. Alcohol is virtually undetectable in this beer.

An interesting beer, no doubt, but I just didn't really find myself digging it. Still glad I was able to try it...

On tap at the Funky Buddha. Murky reddish brown pour with a small white head. I thought the MBCP nose was incredible but the No Crust is down right insane. Total freakin’ chunky roasted peanut butter with undercurrents of dried berries. The taste is so cool. Massive peanut butter flavors offset by mixed berry jam, apricots, and blackberries. Kudos to Kevin, Ryan, and the rest of the Buddha crew....
