Brewed by:
Funky Buddha Brewery
Florida, United States | website

Style: Fruit / Vegetable Beer

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This ain't your grandma's fizzy blueberry lager. Blueberry Cobbler is a copiously blueberried glass of goodness with real cinnamon and vanilla added. It's purple, not because we add coloring, but because we use natural blueberries. So go ahead and sneak a slice. We won't tell.

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros and Threelions.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice very hazy blueberry juice hue with a thin one finger head that faded to leave light halo and thin wisps.

S - Aromas of faint blueberry, odd baking spice notes, cinnamon, allspice, all purpose flour, clove, very batter like. Eh...

T - Taste is just fun, heavily spiced with lots of cloves, all spice, cinnamon, blueberry, light tartness, it is overly spiced, the longer it sits the better it gets. Starts to taste like a blueberry cobbler, dough, blueberry sweetness, light brown sugar. Really can't stress how much this tastes like a blueberry cobbler, albeit a heavily spiced one.

M - Mouthfeel is a bit on the thinner side, lightly carbonated.

O - Overall this was a very nicely executed beer, though spiced more than I would have liked. If the spice wasn't as heavy this would be a homerun.

Decent nose with cinnamon and vanilla. However, the blueberry tasted like extract and didn't blend well at all with the other spices and flavors. The wheat base really doesn't do this beer any favors in my opinion. Just didn't work altogether.

Light brown in color with a fingernail of off white around the rim and about a third of the top. I get plenty of cinnamon and vanilla in the nose, but blueberry? Not so much. I definitely taste an aggressive blend of cinnamon, blueberries, and vanilla. This one is definitely on the sweet side of the spectrum. The mouth is moderately carbonated and the tartness of the blueberries contrasts with all of that sugary sweetness of the cinnamon and vanilla.

Served on tap in a shaker pint glass

A - slightly hazy purple/rose hue with bubbly pinkish 1.5 finger head with good retention, average thin lacing

S - One of the most unique smells I've experienced in a beer, strong vanilla notes, but by golly, this straight up smells like my moms blueberry cobbler, with a hint of nostalgia.

T - Sweet blueberries take the cake here, or the cobbler, vanilla, light and springy, not a hint of bitterness, off notes, or booze, this beer is an unapologetic clever dessert drink.

M - Light body, moderate carbonation. Sticky

O - I love how off the wall some of FBs beers are and this one was my favorite from my session. Daffy yet well executed.

12 ounce bottle served into an English pub glass.

Sudsy and effervescent head with a slight fizzy sound to it. Scattered lacing develops as it recedes. An impressive tornado of carbonation swirls from the glass's base upwards through the burgundy-colored but crystal clear liquid. 4.5

Blueberry cobble is captured on the aroma. Distinct blueberry, a pie-crust sort of aroma, and a swirl of vanilla and cinnamon. One thing though is there's something buttery or synthetic to the vanilla and cinnamon that gives the aroma an artificial quality. 2.75

Conflicting flavors and sensations permeate this beer. There's tartness, thick buttery qualities, and something in the finish that sticks to the bridge of the mouth awkwardly like peanut butter can. Weird and unique in a way I don't care for. The flavors seem discombobulated as the tart blueberry, decent on its own, doesn't mesh well with the peculiar blend of vanilla and caramel that still comes off as artificial. T- 2.75 M- 2.5

I don't care for this at all. It's artificial feeling and messy and fails to even deliver on drinkability, despite the wheat beer with blueberry concept seeming to lend itself to something easy to down.
