Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.30%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Luscious and silky smooth with a body to match, OP Porter is uncompromisingly rich yet surprisingly drinkable. A complex blend of dark malts and real milk sugar creates the bold flavors of dark roast coffee mingling with farm fresh cream. For the stout and porter lover in each of us, OP is a knockout.

Pitch black in color with some cream colored head that faded into a very thin collar. Aroma is very roasty, some dark chocolate and a hint coffee. Taste is roasted malt, and an earthiness to it too. Rich, full body and medium carbonation. Definitely one of the better beers from Funky Buddha.

Super dark brew; great head retention.

Nose is fairly subdued, but there's a lot of roast malt in there.

Robust and smooth on the palate; roasted malt and cream, with a touch of vanilla. Very easy to drink.

Really a fairly standard, but quite good, robust porter, with a touch of lactose giving it a fuller, creamier body.

Funky Buddha Brewery - OP Porter. 6.3% ABV. 16oz pint glass ordered at the brewery.

Look: Almost pitch black, with some ruby highlights. Arrived with a thin light tan head.

Smell: Toasty dark malts, loads of sweet vanilla, and caramel.

Feel: Full bodied, thick and velvety smooth with a little carbonation.

Taste: Sweet vanilla and caramel, surrounded by toasty dark malts and dark chocolate.

Overall: Unfortunately, the last beer I tried at the brewery before departing. Again, I was not disappointed at all. This is a good, solid toasty sweet porter. Good balance of toasty malt and sweet vanilla. I had hoped to try the Vanilla OP Porter, but it had run out. I can just imagine how it was, since this regular OP had a lot of vanilla in it.
