Blood Orange IPA. We ceremoniously slaughtered heaps of crimson-fleshed “Moro” fruit to retrieve its delicious ichor, and then blended it with caramel malts and grapefruity hops.

Very similar to a sam adams erbel grapefruit ipa with more abv: 7.0%, and less sticky hop. I prefer a little less bitter. Maybe more dry hopping would be nice.

12 oz bottle, w/o freshness information that I can find.

Pours a nice warm near ruby shade of Amber, moderately cloudy and leaving just some minor fine sheeting..

Orange path on the nose.

Loaded with orange notes, some resiny hoppyness and a pleasing malty underbelly.

Well done, quite enjoyable and smoothly mellow stuff...Worthy

Pours a cloudy/hazy orangish color with off-white colored head. Citrus, oranges, lots of oranges, and some light pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied and nice mouthfeel. Finishes with more citrus and a light pine.

2017 version.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, into a Funky Buddha snifter.

Soapy off white colored head that stands 1 finger tall, with light retention and heavy lacing. The head gives way to a creamy ring around the glass, and lots of creamy patching in the center. The body is a hazy, bright, light orange color with very low clarity and a heavy amount of sediment.Any light showing through the glass is completely distorted.Pretty heavy carbonation.

On the nose I get blood orange, orange creme, some sweet breaded malts, and a nice dose of piney hop notes. The orange definitely takes the lead.It almost smells like an orange creme liquor, only much more pleasant, and much less of an alcohol presence.Very nice aroma to this beer.

On the palate I get juicy citrus orange, blood orange, orange creme, and piney hops up front and in the middle. On the back end I get sweet bready, biscuit flavored malts, with some orange creme blended in.This is a pretty good tasting beer, nit as good as it smells, but good enough.

The mouth feel is heavy, sticky, and extremely viscous.Nice blast of oxidation on the tongue, with a smooth wet finish.

I can understand why an IPA purist,or a hop head may not like this beer, but luckily for me I am neither of those.I think this is a very nice beer.Sweet juicy characteristics on the nose and palate, thick chewy body, and a great look to it.Definitely the best Blood Orange IPA I have tried so far.Could use a little less bready malt flavors on the back end,but I am not going to nitpick.I would definitely drink this one again.

This delicious Blood Orange IPA tastes even better then it smells. A great summer IPA with bold and juicy blood orange flavors tied together with a little bitterness from the hops leaves the mouth very satisfied. An excellent IPA from Funky Buddha Brewery.

Reviewed from long-standing notes. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Fat Heads pint glass.
NOTE: This was the 2015, drank five days after the release to the west coast of Florida.

A: Pours a mildly hazy medium gold, with a one finger white head. Decent retention. A good amount of visible carbonation.

S: Citrus rind, sticky and oily. Toasted biscuit malts – a bit maltier than expected. Not a huge orange presence, or indeed even overall aroma.

T: Orange marmalade bitterness, resin and vegetal hop bitter as well. The hefty malt bill adds bready sweetness, but not much if any caramel; however, it has a grainy or husky character that really comes out as it warms through the drink. The hang is citrus pith with hints of orange flavor, along with more sticky pine and a touch of dankness.

M: Medium body and a good level of carbonation sensation. The alcohol is noticeable but not obnoxious.

O: It’s not a bad beer, but I’m kinda disappointed. The husky character to the malts detract some here. The level of maltiness is comparable to Jai Alai perhaps (maybe a bit more bready in the More Moro) but I'm missing out on the big bright blood orange flavor I was so excited about. The oranges are there, but the flavors are more like citrus-forward hops…not moro elements. I did like it better than the bottled Hop Gun at least. But still a bit of a let down.

POST NOTE: After drinking my way through the other bottles on different nights, the husk of the malts came through even more that the initial bottle, detracting even further.

Appearance: Pours cloudy and honey colored capped by a couple of inches of foam; the head fades a bit more quickly than I would like and, as it does, it leaves a few shards behind

Smell: Strong blood orange aromatics with caramel tones underneath; somewhat herbal

Taste: Herbal and pithy tones forward, with the blood orange adding its distinct bitterness; caramel underneath adds some sweetness; rather bitter in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: My second blood orange IPA of the week and, while I like this one a bit more than the Pipeworks I just cannot get excited about the style

Thanks, Ravishing44, for the opportunity

Pours a cloudy, maize color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of citrus (orange), pale malt, yeast, and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong orange, pale malt, hint of sweet malt, hint of hop, and a hint of yeast. Overall, weak appearance, simple aroma, good feel, and good orange flavor.

The blood orange is very strong, nearing overpowering in the aroma and flavor. I guess the "more" part of the name is true. The beer appears orange, hazy, with a slight reddish tint. All orange in the aroma and flavor, pushes the hops and malt out of the way. Could be improved with a bit more balance, but I am sure that this may be a flavor that many people enjoy. It says its orange, and it tastes like orange.

Poured at recommended temp/glassware. No head or lacing. Look is deep orange. Smells pure grapefruit to me. I don't know what exactly a blood orange smells or tastes like, but this smells and tastes of a less bitter highly carbonated grapefruit. Not much hop bitterness. mouthfeel is good, neither thin nor thick, does make my tastebuds juice up. If a blood orange tastes like this and that is the predominant goal, then I would say it hits that nail on the head, but I don't get much hops as an IPA. It's a pleasing enough drink, but I agree with another review, use this as a stepping stone for a non IPA lover to intro them to the style..and then blow them away with FB hop stimulator!!

against bottle directions, I let the second half warm up and everything improves! I do not agree with recommendation of 38 degree serving temp. To me it was twice as good at 48-50. I will re-rate next bottle at my normal drinking temp.

Sister picked this up for me while in Florida ... had this a few days ago.

Basically, mm. Blood orange all over the place, so be ready. Honestly, I don't taste a whole helluva lot of hops, but I get the bitterness, which works awesomely with the blood orange tartness. As an IPA, it's rather "meh", as the hops just don't come out like I'd like them to. At the same time, this is a very nice drinking beer that has a pretty delicious flavor profile. For that, I approve of it and recommend it.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep hazy orange, thin white head fades immediately, no lace. Powerful blood orange citrusy aroma. Tastes just like it smells, like fresh squeezed bitter sweet blood orange juice. Citrus peel bitterness lasts a little past the sip. Thin to medium semi-soft mouthfeel. This is a refreshing juicy brew, better than I remember it.

This one is interesting. Great deep orange light red color. Strong orange smell. The taste is basically orange juice with beer. Bitterness is mild so not for a hophead. Interesting take on an IPA but it falls short for me. Good intro for a non IPA person or non beer drinker.

Pour is hazy red-orange, big bubbled white head with excellent lacing that settles to a ring. The nose follows the name very well. Blood orange bomb. Grapefruit slight sweet bready malt in the background. Taste is more blood orange, grapefruit, candied orange, and sweet sugary malt.

Overal this IPA has absolutely no bitterness to it, which is a bad thing. The blood orange dominates any hop profile at all, which makes it unbalanced in my opinion. Too sweet, sugary, too much blood orange.

Draft, 5-1-16. Review from memory. Shaker.

Appearance: poured a hazy dark red with 1 finger just off white foamy head that retained surprisingly well. Little lacing.

Smell: intense citrus and sweetness. Really nice. I think the smell is 50% of why I ordered this over the other FB option, Floridian hefeweizen.

Taste: initially very sweet, with a nice malty background, the dominant flavor is blood orange, through and through. As it goes on, the sweetness became more subdued and the bitterness increased, but not a hoppy bitterness - I think this was coming from the orange peel, or at least that's how it tasted. The last sip was off-putting. Lingering orange peel taste. One of the comments suggested it tastes like a blood orange screwdriver; I can agree with that.

Mouthfeel: mid weight, somewhat slick, pretty low carbonation.

Overall: not a typical IPA, and it was a ad choice for dinner; it did not play nicely with anything I ate, and the lingering bitterness was of an unpleasant variety, though it really captured the essence of blood orange. Good for what it is, Inventive, but I wouldn't order it again.

Severely underrated.

When I hear Blood Orange IPA, it better stand up to such a deliciously malty citrus. And this certainly does. Bright juicy notes that pave a path for easy drinking. 7.7%? Never would have guessed. Drinks like a session IPA, except this actually has a juicy integrity that other members of this style can only dream of.

More please!

Looks= Cloudy orange, kinda like a Mamosa.

smells like OJ. very sweet and juicy.

Taste= Taste like a mamosa. Lots of orange sweetness. Easy to drink. Does not have much bitterness.

Overall, this a good beer for anyone trying to get into craft beers. Maybe even a gateway to more traditional IPAs. I will buy this again.

A lot of juicy orange flavour but lacks the base IPA. There was next to no bitterness present, making this beer resemble more of an orange-infused what beer than an IPA.

Pours a hazy orange-gold. Fairly dark tint. Small cream colored head vanishes pretty quick. Just a wisp of lacing.

Very strong blood orange aroma. Lemon, regular orange, and tangerine.

Lots of citrus on the tongue, blood orange and tangerine being the most prominent. Very light malt. Something a touch soapy, as well.

Mild mouth feel with medium carbonation. Low bitterness. Strong, lingering citrus.

Very interesting beer. Citrus to the exclusion of almost anything else.

says to "drink fresh" but no date on bottle.... labels are good places for dates...
LOTS of blood orange flavor, citrus, orange, grapefruit. not great flavor, but there is a lot of it. my bottle says only 7%. mild carbonation- more would help the flavors, i believe.... it's alright.... it's decent.... it's good.... i could drink more of these, after thinking more about it....

Orange bodied with a small off white head.

Aroma is has a hefty blood orange juice punch, gets a little more regular orange, floral, and some slight caramel malt presence.

Bitterness is really low. Guessing they rely heavily on the orange juice for the "hop" flavors. Medium bodied with good carbonation and it drinks smoothly. Flavor is a little thin with blood orange and malt. Bready flavors come out.

Kinda meh. Was really excited about the idea of a blood orange IPA but it was good enough.

This is a very dirty murky orange looking beer. The smell and taste follow the appearance. Almost like a taste you get from a dirty tap even though this came from a fresh bottle. It's very citrusy, but there is a mild unpleasant bitterness to it. There is little to no carbonation, which leaves this tasting like orange juice with a small amount of alcohol added.

Pours a hazy reddish orange body with a light tan head that dissipates quickly.

Smell is of citrus, grapefruit, and orange juice.

Taste is of orange juice and hops, some grapefruit flavors as well. finishes with a bitter hop taste. Its not awful, but it tastes more like a bitter IPA with grapefruit/orange juice added to it.

Feel has a nice carbonation with a medium mouthfeel, not bad at all.

overall its a perfectly fine beer. Nothing to get excited about, but I could see enjoying it on a hot day.

Looking at the reviews I have to assume this batch is better than pr virus. Is it a traditional IPA? No... But it is a really nice combo of fruit presence and subtle hoppiness on the back end. I love buoyed it and think folks will be quite surprised by the improvement in the batch.

Funky Buddha Brewery - More Moro. 7.7% ABV. 12oz snifter ordered at the brewery.

Look: Pale hazy orange body, arriving with a thin white head which ends up as a ring of lacing.

Smell: Sweet and tangy citrus on the nose, and nothing else really.

Feel: Light to medium body, with a lot of lively carbonation.

Taste: Sweet and tangy citrus fruit, along with some light bitter hops. Finishes sweet and bitter.

Overall: Very sweet IPA, with a little bit of hop presence near the end. I'm not sure if the other batches weren't as good, or everyone else just has too high of standards, but I thought this was amazing. My brother described as looking, smelling, and tasting like Sunny D, and he's right.
