Notes: The big sister to our Bonita Applebum Apple Pie Brown, Muy Bonita is a bigger, badder ‘bum. This double brown ale flaunts a bodacious body and a stunning combination of real cinnamon, vanilla, and apples. So thick, she’s like a hip hop song.

had this bottle for way too long, looked interesting tonight, so why not. brew is heavily carb bed so much so that the head was a bit explosive, eventually settled into a frothy creamy cap reminiscent of Belgian classics. on first sips and sniffs this was horrendously disgusting...but as it opened up and settled (and I got used to the prickly carbonation) the flavors popped creating a super artificial almost cake like thing. nose remains off putting w a strong char but the heavy vanilla on the taste seems to wash over the apple cinammon. the whole thing tastes REALLY artificial, as most of these do...and I find myself towing the line of wanting to pour it down the drain or have one more sip. interesting but the artificial is just too much for me on this one. prbably a fantastic bottle to open when 15 deep in a tasting and your palate is shot....cause this would definitely cut through.

i loved this beer, i know its a weird one, and it probably (almost certainly) doesnt need all the vanilla, but what a clever and well executed flavored ale from these guys, who now appear to me to be the kings of such things. this is an imperial brown ale with apple, cinnamon, and vanilla, and its a really nice brew. the brown ale seems light to me, less imperial in flavor than in alcohol, but holding a nice inch of white airy head over a thinner and lighter milk chocolate brown body. the cinnamon is the least relevant of the added ingredients. i get apple cider, sweet and tart, red apple skins, right away with the chocolate malt, nuttiness and roasty barley, and the sweet overdosed vanilla, but the cinnamon is hard to come by in both nose and taste. i think more of it would be too much at the same time, turning this from an all season sipper to something seasonally specific and festive, but more limited. i do think the bitter spice would be useful against all the vanilla, which takes over most nuance here. i do like that it drinks a little lighter, not heavy at all, but still quite sweet. the apple is true to the real fruit, but this never ends up being too autumnal because of how light the malts are in it. the booze is well hidden, and if the sugar was scaled back some it would be a lot better, but i like it a lot, there really isnt a beer like this out there in the market. clever i think, with the apple and cinnamon. id love to see the same ingredients in am imperial cream ale too...

Heavy dose of vanilla and cinnamon on the nose. Color is a light brown. The vanilla is present in the taste with darker malts. Another solid offering from FB. I would drink this all the time if it was in my distro.

Bomber into a snifter at the taproom. Dark brown in the glass with little head/retention. Amazing aroma of vanilla, cinammon, light chocolate, and toffee. The taste follows, with a heavy, heavy vanilla presence. Strong notes of cinammon and chocolate, with faint notes of green apples up front, but quickly fade. Perfect weight.

Probably the best "double brown" I've ever had. Freakin' delicious.

A touch of carbonation when poured. Nose is very sweet with brown sugar, caramel, vanilla and a bit of spice. Taste reveals sweet malt and molasses with a bit of vanilla and spice. Some hoppyness lingers with a sweet sugary syrup taste. Mouthfeel is just above average and left me wanting more.

Good beer, just adjuncts overpower this. Do not age.

22oz bomber dated 3/10/16 poured into a 10oz Funky Buddha snifter L: ice tea color with no head other than a thin ring around the edge of the glass and pinpoint lacing spots. S: smells like hard root beer barrel candy T: liquid root beer candy F: thin, watery, minimal carbonation O: this one sadly is a miss for me. I wanted very badly to like this, but I won't be buying another bottle.
