Funky Buddha Brewery
Florida, United States

Style: American Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.80%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
The big sister to our Bonita Applebum Apple Pie Brown, Muy Bonita is a bigger, badder ‘bum. This double brown ale flaunts a bodacious body and a stunning combination of real cinnamon, vanilla, and apples. So thick, she’s like a hip hop song.

An imperial version of their Bonita Applebum. Not sure if it's barrel aged, but it's delicious regardless.
Hailed by our table last night as "A little slice of Americana", it indeed tastes like a glass of apple pie. Jason Biggs would have conflicting emotions if he got a chance to taste this lovely celebration of America's experimental brewing.
It's rich and creamy, and the aroma is heavenly. Amazing, the beer is well balanced, not too sweet, just the right amount of spice, and I've never tasted anything close to this in my life (aside from the non-imperial version)
Truly, this beer is one of the great accomplishments of The Funky Buddha, and it's ability to craft beers with astoundingly accurate flavors, while remaining balanced.
No Crust comes to mind in comparison.
You really have to taste this beer to do it justice, words cannot express the feeling one gets when tasting this beer. Apple pie in a glass.

Funky Buddha Brewery - Muy Bonita. 8.8% ABV. 12oz snifter ordered at the brewery.

Look: Same as the base Doc Brown Ale. Deep amber/maroon colored body, arriving with a thin off white ring of lacing.

Smell: Just as described on the menu. Sweet apples, cinnamon, vanilla, and caramel.

Feel: Full bodied, very smooth with a little carbonation.

Taste: Just like the smell. Sweet green apple, cinnamon, loads of vanilla, and caramel.

Overall: This is a step up from their regular Doc Brown Ale, brewed with apples, cinnamon, and vanilla, which becomes apparent when you smell it. This was so good, me and my brother left with 4 bottles to bring back home.

Thanks for the share, Jason!

This one pours a pretty dark brown, somewhat opaque, with a foamy half inch head, and a good amount of lacing.

This smells rather ridiculous, like cinnamon-encrusted pie crust, apple pie filling, vanilla beans, caramel, and brown sugar. Wow!

When Funky Buddha is making a beer based on a dessert, you better expect it to taste basically exactly like the dessert in question. They managed to make an apple-pie based beer not too sweet, which is incredible. What's even more impressive is it's not too sweet but actually really tastes like apple pie, with delectable sweet cinnamon, bready pie crust, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla cream, and browned/caramelized apples. How'd they do it?

This is medium bodied and pretty creamy and rich, with a soft level of carbonation.

This is so warm and tasty, and just makes you feel good.
