Funky Buddha carries lots of ‘used to be dot dot dot’ on their resume. Used to be a great visionary brand, fine beers contract brewed at Cigar City Brewing in Tampa, and served to college kids at their taproom lounge in Boca Raton. But then ‘Maple Bacon Coffee Porter’ got discovered, went viral, and the owner built a mega brewery. Then started using syrup adjunt in their portfolio to push volume quicker. Then the wheels started coming off, culminating in being sold to Constellation Brands,,., Corona’s daddy.
Building is cavernous, rock vibe, and the merch stand jammed full. Sit outside as the train passes, get a bonus layer of dust on your nachos!
Beer ranges from Very Good IPAs to cloying Syrup Bombs. (They once did a cherry adjunct Stout that tasted like NyQuil.,).
Service is Great.
Food is OK.

First, lemme get all Northyorksammy on you guys for a sec. The parking lot ain't safe, the neighborhood ain't safe, so be careful! And I was there at like 1pm on a Thursday.

There is something poetic and empty about your first visit to a once-great brewery being about five years after the peak of their popularity. The spacious warehouse feel, the high ceilings, the insanely large merch area.. it all reeks of a busy brewery, except now it's beer nerd ghosts that patronize the great hall. OK, i'm exaggerating, but kinda not too.

Saddling up to the completely empty bar and looking at the insane tap list, I imagined I had accidentally entered prior to opening, but that wasn't the case. The server was an older gentleman, wrapped up with his phone, but nice enough when approached. I had a couple pints and a handful of high octane tasters, thought a lot about Ronnie Mund and Richard Christy and their love for the Buddha, paid my tab, and departed.

I could tell I was the only one in there geeking out about beer (there may have been 5-10 other people in there by the time I left) and it kind of made me sad. The best thing about hype-y breweries is the electricity in the air, despite the overwhelming (usually stinky) crowds and usually small spaces. This is a place where those days are long gone.

I really enjoyed some of those pastry-tasters (although the pint of cream ale was terrible.. florida water!) and there was a sense of history being in there. However, I wish my visit was years earlier to capture some of the excitement that makes traveling for weird beers so much fun.

Does this make sense? I hope so.

Visited here with Da Boss while vacationing in the Fort Lauderdale area 12-21-21 during the lunch hour.

Vibe was a big spacious warehouse type space inside with a swag center right at the front entrance, numerous tables on the inside and a bar with several large screens at the back. Outside there were table on the patio that laid adjacent to railroad tracks with high-speed regional trains running by every 20-30 minutes.

Quality of the beer was good; Linda enjoyed her Fuhgeddaboudit Red Ale and i had 3 ales in which all were solid.

Service was near perfect as the server had a great handle on the IPA's available when i inquired even though i had menu in hand.

Selection was very good as there were 6 year-round brews available and 15 Limited Releases available.

Food was solid as Linda enjoyed her Cuban sandwich and my Nashville Chicken was tasty as well. Potato Salad and House Pickle are a nice alternative to those of us that typically get fries.

Overall a worthwhile stop with a good choice of solid brews and food to choose from!

The vibe was a bit odd as it is in a strip mall like building on the corner of a main drag. There is a large space with TV all around and was kid friendly. The quality of the beer and food were very good. The service was excellent and attentive. There was plenty of different beers and food to choose from.....everyone should be able to find something they like. The food was very good....I had the pretzel and maple bacon! Definitely worth visiting.

Visited during COVID regulations so I imagine it wasn't the normal atmosphere. Plenty of room to spread out and have a beer, both indoor and outdoors. The selection was a solid variety, although I was hoping for more malty options, but I guess that's to be expected in March. I had a smoked salmon BLT and it was fantastic, large food portions. Service seems to be a team effort but staff was very engaging and polite. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in Ft Lauderdale.

Reserved a table and I recommend using that option as there are limited seating and patrons allowed with COVID precautions in place. Decent selection of beers and food and service was solid. Hot chicken sandwich was really good. Wish they had more of their limited releases on draft, but was able to get a bottle of last buffalo in the park to go. Fun experience but you can tell FB has hit corporate level brewery.

We were there on a Wednesday afternoon so things were a bit calm. The place is very cool and I love their beers, especially the darker ones. The No Crusts and the Maple Bacon Coffee Porter are two of my five favorite beers! Highly recommend

Place was absolutely packed. Probably par for the course on a Saturday bottle release. We waited until two seats opened up where we could set our stuff down and mark our places. I went to the bar to order and was promptly greeted and serviced. Beers were decent, but stick to the Barrel Aged stuff if you really want to get your money's worth.

Dropped $200 on bombers and glassware and the counter help was neutral at best. Good haul overall. Limited parking, dumpsters in the back reek bad.

Really enjoyed my visit to FB. Big place, fun crowd on Halloween last year. Servers were great too. I'm a big fan of their adjunct porters and they had several on tap. The togo bottle selection varies quite a bit, it seems like their stuff hits pretty wide distro in FL and I seem to have good luck finding some of their releases on the shelves of bottle shops in the area also. Two thumbs up for FB.

Very cool brewery and very open floor plan which is always nice. They have a rec area with indoor cornhole/bags set up which is awesome! The beers are above average but only a select few are outstanding. The service was excellent as well as the food and they have quite a selection to choose from!

Nice large taproom, popular but it can hold the crowd. Food and cornhole in the back. Excellent selection of 30 taps including one guest tap. Growlers and crowlers at a decent price.
