The nose is a sweet vanilla with a semi-thin pour. Foremost flavor is vanilla with a slight malty feel and a heavy vanilla ice cream finish. Good with the right pairing of a tell o salty balance. I enjoy it with a lime chicken taco dish but too much is overbearing.

12 oz can. Pours brown with a medium creamy tan head that goes to a thin film and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is grainy chocolate malts with some vanilla and some roast and a little coffee.

The flavor is sweet lactic chocolate and vanilla with some roast and an acidic bitter finish. The moutfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a decent sweet vanilla porter. Not overly sweet with balance from the roast.

Black in color with very little penetration to light. There's a fingernail of tan head resting on top. Lighti lacing is present. Aroma is faint notes of chocolate. I taste caramel more so than dark chocolate. The vanilla comes of slightly astringent. It finishes with a slightly nutty to bitter roasted barley note. The mouth is lightly frothy and there are notes of calcium carbonate in the texture.

12 oz. Can

Pours a pretty nice dark brown color, nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small creamy light tan head, which leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some chocolate/toffee, vanilla. The taste is malty, chocolate/toffee, vanilla. Medium body. Overall, a tasty brew.

Surprisingly clean, bright Porter with a very light hint of vanilla. Superior to those which typically over-do the flavoring to the point of tasting fake. Very light carbonation, no lace, slightly acidic nose. A bit more like an Autumn Brown than a full blown porter. Overall, great porter for the warmer months of the year.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Deep dark chocolate with ruby or lighter chocolate hues around the edges. Light cream head that dissipates to a film, very light lacing.

Aroma: Heavy roasted notes -- charred ingredients, thick fudge-like aromas, chocolate, not a lot of vanilla.

Taste: Heavy roasted malts and a little bit of charcoal before getting some bitter chocolate. Very earthy bitter finish. Again, not so much vanilla if any.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, actually nicely weighted.

Overall: Could be better, maybe I just drank an older can and the vanilla faded. Otherwise very roasty with good chocolate representation.

Big chocolate, slightly sweet aroma with a hint of vanilla and toasted notes.

Flavor is a tad sweet, with nutty roast malt at the lightly dry finish.

Unique can labeling info: none noted.

Dark brown body with a thick, frothy head. Fine roasted grain aroma; coffee; bitter chocolate. Strong milk chocolate flavor tempered with a vanilla sweetness and hazelnut bitterness. Medium-light body; semi-sweet finish.

A weak, watery body detracts from an otherwise fine tasting, great looking, and excellently scented dark ale.

this hit shelves today, and what i like about it is precisely what i dont like about it. that is how light it is, its insanely drinkable, especially without being sweet in the slightest, but what i dont like about it is how thin it comes across. it visually and feel wise presents itself as a brown ale, and that theme is continued throughout. i dont get enough big bitter dark roasted barley, and that hurts the middle and the feel for me, but the vanilla is authentic, the chocolate malt is yummy, and the cleanness of the finish is uncommon for the style. this may have made a better impression in early fall, but for the dead of winter is was a little too small for my tastes. not overdone with vanilla either, which sometimes these beers can be. carbonation is fine, but the body is lacking. not watery, but not hearty either. a nicely flavored brew overall though, and one i would have no problem drinking a six pack of in a session.
