Enjoyed at the Snallygaster DC 2021. From the can, it pours a hazy amber color with a modest head that reduces to a thin layer. In the nose, Grapefruit! Surprise! Taste follows nose - grapefruit from start to finish. Feel is modest, due to low carbonation.

Not a bad beer, but not sure I would call it outstanding.
Color is a deep copper color. Somewhat thing head. Nose is very sweet, citrus. Taste was grapefruit and sweet citrus. Decent bitterness across palate.

If hops already give impressions of grapefruit, then Rar brewers push those flavors right along with generous additions of actual grapefruit to transform their IPA into fruit beer.

Slightly on the tarnish side of gold, Grapefruit Nectar floats a creamy white froth and a billowing scent of pink grapefruit that rises high above all other citrusy, sprucy or herbal scents. A tease of sweetness comes with true nectar impressions of honey and wafer ahead of a bold grapefruit taste. Backed with more hoppy subtlety of orange and lime, the grapefruit flavors resonate well with a tangy and bitter finish of citrus peel, gin-like botanicals and fresh spruce.

Medium bodied, bitter and fruity, the session is a welcomed fruity take on IPA that's a departure from the hazier milkshake trends of other breweries.

Cloudy, dull amber appearance with a large white head that didn't last too long. The name says it all as you take the first whiff: grapefruit. May be able to pick out a few more citrus notes, like a little orange. Taste stays true to what the aroma is offering; citrus, mainly grapefruit. There is a bit of pine lurking in the background, though. Modestly sweet, medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel.

Hazy gold copper appearance with a tight white head, with good retention. Grapefruit, pineapple, pine notes. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, pleasantly prickly mouthfeel.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a one finger foam that fades away to a film; limited lacing

Smell: Pronounced grapefruit aromatics with a touch of toasted malt

Taste: The grapefruit flavors dominate from start to finish with the toasted malt adding some sweetness underneath; moderate bitterness in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with low to moderate carbonation

Overall: A nice grapefruit flavor but the mouthfeel is flabby

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Heavily sudsy and tall reaching bright white head, to the mountains at four fingers but minimal retention, and goes to nearly no collar at all. Big bright orange body, not hazy but opaque appearance.

Grapefruit heavy aroma. Good balance of fruit and hop angles, soft pith, nice oily mix of zest and bitterness. Oily sensing hop angle, with classic fruit tones. Neutral malt and yeast on the nose.

Palate takes a real nice turn. Soft and slow bitter hop grapefruit and juicy tones. Bit of a wet body as some of the juicy angle does seem to lack a malt density and hits towards box juice character. Still a playful palate. Hits slight Orangina like fizz with mixing herbal bitterness and oily fruit flavors while constantly drinking.

Decent solid grape-fruited IPA, but I have had better.

Poured from a 16 oz.can. Has a very hazy burnt orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is dominated by grapefruit. Taste has lots of grapefruit, a solid malt backbone, mild bitterness. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is a high quality beer.

Can dated 4/28:
Not the prettiest body - a dirty orange, mostly opaque blob, but a responsive head that leaves significant lacing. Grapefruit flesh and pith along with tangerine peel appear to my nose accompanied by a light honey/toast malt presence. Feel is somewhere in between IPA styles - with the beer seeming a little thicker than a classic IPA, but isn't weighted down or as smooth as cloudy NE IPAs. Carbonation has strength, but with an odd fuzziness about it.

The grapefruit hits up front with a honey malt pairing. The pithy bitterness grows into the mid-taste when a generic citrus fruit makes a small splash in the grapefruit bitter pond. The last notes turn toward the green pine, though a strain of the grapefruit peel holds on as well.

Feel is weird, but the flavors and scents are pretty nice. I'd like this to turn one direction or the other in feel (and personally would likely enjoy said feel more as a cleaner regular IPA).

This is a simple but extremely well executed beer so I'll leave the review short and sweet. Great dark orange but still hazy color, good lacing and head formation, solid nose but just a little too overly grapefruit forward, taste is incredible with just the right amount of bitterness to round out the grapefruit flavors and alcohol unnoticeable for a 7.4% beer, feel is full bodied but not overbearing and finishes nice and hoppy. Overall this is an incredibly well executed IPA with fruit additions.
