16 ounce can poured into a nonic style pint glass.
Canned 11/30/21

Pours black and leaves an oily brown residue on the glass when tilted.. Tan head is thin. Nose is malty, sweet chocolate and lots of vanilla. Tasting rich and fairly sweet, chocolate fudge-like with, like the nose, an abundance of vanilla. The vanilla doesn’t seem to be hiding anything but is on the strong side. Medium bodied with low carbonation, rich enough to be a good dessert beer but still a fairly easy drinker.
After three of these on three separate days, I’ll say a solid and tasty stout.

Poured from the can into a teku glass. Listed as 7.2% and 10 Layers plural. Pretty confident this is the same beer, but could be wrong.

Light mocha two finger head, with minimal lace but lasts quite a long time in presence as settles down very slowly. Simple straight up classic dark walnut brown and nearly black body, not too slick or sludge like looking either. Quite a nice looking stout.

Surprising mix of aromas. Nut like fudge on first exploration, then some more dark to milk chocolate tones even coupled with some banana like esters in the mix also. More fudge like tones, sticking to less exotic chocolate aromas but still nice, rich, and thick. Smells like you could really cut this with a knife, very impressive.

Palate brings some neat angles. Light bodied for an imperial but makes for easier drinking. Mid palate washes with nutty nougat and fudge touching flavors. Hits some carbon ash and dryness in the mix, with finally some real roast character to dial down the hinting sweetness. Light touch finish even provides some hinting fruit almost pitted red cherry or raspberry like also.

Very neat tasting stout, not so much cake like, but a great nut and fudge angle with some added unexpected surprises.

L-The beer pours black and glossy with a 3 finger tan head. The head recedes to a thick film with spotty lacing on the glass.
S-The nose is primarily roasted malt with a bit of vanilla in the backround. Coconut seems to blend in a bit with the vanilla.
T- First sip leads with the coconut and vanilla before quickly transitioning to the roasted malt. Despite the addition of lactose the beer finishes slightly bitter. Not cloying like many "dessert" stouts. They really nailed a nice balance here.
F-Mouthfeel overall is medium. Slightly slick to promote the flavors coating the tongue. That said it isn't so filling to make it a chore to finish.
O- A great example of a dessert stout which doesn't go over the top with the adjuncts. Has a nice balance which many in this style fail to produce. Highly recommended.

Update 10/13: Had again on tap and found the beer to be much thinner and a bit astringent. Unsure if different keg or if beer has deteriorated a bit.

Had on tap at rar 10/5/17. Amazing full rich stout. Don't let the 7% ABV fool you. This is as rich and velvety smooth as the best Imp Stout.
Remarkably full and complex ; dark with cherrywood accents to light. Nose is full and leads into roasted malt attack but zero bitterness...super rich chocolate complemented by dark cherry pit fruit. Truly an excellent dessert stout

Black brown look. Head is brown tan. Good look.

Fantastic smell. Very fantastic lactose that smells like cocoa laced milk chocolate. No hop, traceable bitterness. Slight sugar but Swiss milk cocoa. Good taste. Slight bitterness but dominated by Swiss milk chocolate

Thin for heavy body. Tingling but spritzy carbonation.

Exceptional.

No hype - 10 Layers is as-advertised. The best way to describe it is a solid American stout served with a slice of frosted chocolate cake. It is sweet without being overbearing and the glass I had was perfectly carbonated, but lacked head.
