This is a robust porter infused with a classic Texas ingredient, pecans. It is full bodied and a little on the sweet side. Its bold flavor comes from roasted malt, its generous hop additions, and toasted pecans.

Pours a dark brown color tan head. Roasted malt, nuts, pecans definitely, and some light toast; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with roast and nuts.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Pours a deep black-brown topped by a finger of tan foam. The nose comprises maple syrup, toffee, cocoa powder, and a twinge of flowers in the background (gotta have some floral ambience, kids). The taste brings in more of the same, along with a vague pecan-esque nut quality pervading the background for good measure. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. A pretty tasty little porter, to be sure.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a very dark brown color with a two-finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is very sweet of caramel and molasses. Along with the sweet comes a nice hit of roasted and toasted bready smells as well as a big showing of some almond and pecan nuttiness. A touch of must, dirt, and earth round out the smell, to produce a nice robust pecan pie like smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a decent strong roasted and toasted malt flavor mixed with a touch of coffee. Right from the start the nuttiness is present, with it being more almond like in flavor at first but transitioning to a more pecan like flavor as the taste advances. Along with the nut, there is also a rather decent showing of some sweet molasses and brown sugar as well as a touch of chocolate. These later flavors grow a bit weaker as the taste advances, but are replaced by some more nut, smoke, and a decently strong char flavor, along with a bit of booziness, to leave one with a sweet and robust dark pecan flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the robust dark, pecan, and boozy tastes of the brew the feel is great and makes for a nice slow sipper.
Overall – A rather nice robust pecan ale. Sweet, but not overly so, with a rather boozy, but approachable taste. Rather fun.

Appearance: Deep, dark amber in color, with a robust, dense, and persistent light tan head, speckled with both minute and gigantic bubbles. The head retention is superb. A thick sheet of unbroken lacing of fine-beaded bubbles lines the glass wall.
Aroma: Cold coffee, molasses, and a considerable chocolate milk presence dominate the aroma. Roasted nut aromas are present, as well. Surprisingly, there is no more than a hint of alcohol in the aroma, tending towards bourbon, but very subtle, considering the relatively high ABV of 8.5%
Taste: Begins with a note of charcoal, smoke cold coffee, and bitter cocoa. As the taste progresses, there is burnt caramel and oak. Throughout the taste, there is no alcohol discernable, other than a nice bit of warmth. The pecans contribute a roasted nut undercurrent. Finishes with a lingering note of cold coffee and quite bitter cacao.
Mouth feel: Smooth and full, perhaps a touch less than expected, but still pleasant, with just a hint of carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Very nice and drinkable, as the label suggests, it does pair well with peanut butter cups. Well worth a try.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a Save the World Brewing Teku.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Dark brown color with a light beige head and ok lacing. Milk chocolate smell and taste. Pecan flavor is strong but chocolate dominates. Not bad but a bit sweet for me.

I really wanted to like this beer... all I'm getting is metal mixed with chemicals and absolutely no body or significant enjoyment. I bought a 4 pack and I'm having trouble not pouring it all down the drain... BLEH!!

this is not the best beer in the world, in fact, its not even close, it has a crazy degree of sweetness to it and really doesnt seem to be all that well made, but the use of the pecans is brilliant, and despite the overall quality and swagger of the base porter, the addition of these pecans and the flavor it brings out is absolutely awesome. i cant hate on it for being sweet, because the residual sugar seems to be a catalyst for the nut flavor to carry on and come out. sometimes its hard for nut flavor to come forward in beer, but not here, and the sugar must have something to do with that. maybe they know something i dont. inky black beer with a lot of body and a nice shine. not a ton of head, but lively enough. pecans all the way through the aroma and flavor, and a molasses type sugar thats obviously grain derived. good dark malt profile too, roasty but not bitter at all, really all a cool platform for the nuts. slightly hoppy in the finish too, which i really dont think belongs, and a little booze heavy, but it makes a real contribution with the pecans in here. had fun with this one!
