Very Good
Sweep The LegSweep The Leg
Notes: “Sweep the Leg” Peanut Butter Stout is based on an American Stout with the unique addition of peanut butter. The peanut butter is added during the fermentation process for maximum flavor. The beer has a roasted peanut butter nose, smooth body, light hop profile and a noticeable but subtle peanut butter finish.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter glass
Appearance – The beer pours a pitch black color with a small head of tan/brown colored foam. The head fades fast to leave a touch of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is very heavy of a roasted malt smell mixed with a big aroma of cocoa and some coffee. Along with these smells comes a rather strong showing of a peanut butter smell mixed with a little bit of a caramel and sugary aroma. Overall the brew has an almost peanut butter cup like smell. Quite nice!!
Taste – The taste begins with a nice roasted malt flavor that has plenty of sweetness of a molasses and brown sugar taste mixed within. Along with these flavors comes a very light coffee taste along with a good sum of cocoa. The peanut butter is light upfront, but gets quite a bit stronger as the taste advances. At the very end of the taste some other light nut tastes join the increased peanut butter flavor, and with the cocoa, sweet sugar, and roasty tastes, one is left with a nice creamy peanut better cup taste to linger on the on tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is super thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is low. For the peanut butter cup and dessert like nature of the brew the feel is fantastic and makes for a nice slow sipper.
Overall – This is a rather well crafted peanut butter stout overall. It is rather balanced with respects to its sweet/roast/cocoa/peanut butter ratio. Nothing is overwhelming, but all are appreciated. A rather tasty dessert brew.

No peanut butter taste. Pretty gross actually. I was wanting to try something new. The 6 pack was about $12.00. Better than bar prices but overall, a pretty poor beer. Won't buy again or drink again unless it's given to me free but even then, probably a no go.

12oz bottle served in a snifter. If there's a date on it, I can't find it. Gift from a Texan friend at work. Left a fair amount of sediment in the bottle (but probably still poured a fair amount of sediment in my glass).

Pours dark, basically black, with a small light brown head and a fair amount of very fine carbonation. Smell is coffee, burnt roast malt.

Taste is some coffee, more burnt roast malt. I can maybe find some peanut butter in the flavor if I work at it, but I might be imagining it. Has the beginnings of a sour flavor to it, but it's not too far gone yet.

Mouthfeel is moderately thin, a little sandy. Overall, it's not bad. It's not very good, either.

After sipping this stout about four times, I could still not find any "peanut butter" taste. This beer is sour, almost like a poorly made red wine. It has a strong beginning and a strong end. I'll finish it but won't buy it again.

Black pour with ruby edges; tan foam, good retention; heavy, solid ring with heavy lacing. Sweet nutty nose that is faint. Lite nutty, creamy milky sweet chocolate; subtle peanut finish as liquid continued to warm. Medium lite body, moderate minus carbonation; creamy feel; no warmth. Lite subtle nuts and chocolate, but as beer continued to warm, there was an artificial/adjuncty/metal taste in the finish which was disappointing.

The beer is really sour. I do not really taste the peanut butter. Disappointing as a stout. Even leaves a sour aftertaste in your mouth instead of the peanut butter aftertaste I was hoping for.

Notes via stream of consciousness: Wow, dark beer... black in the glass beneath a creamy head of dark tan that's been holding well since I poured it. I didn't get the peanut in the aroma the first time I smelled it but knowing it's there I can find it now. The flavor definitely expresses more peanut butter though. It's also quite chocolatey and rich. What's the strength on this? It seems like a strong beer. Odd, it's not listed on the label but BA has it at 7% which makes sense. I'm getting some caramel nougat as well, and some clear coffee-like roastiness. It's sweetish, and it finishes sweetish, but not too sweet. It's not cloying. It still has a nice head on it, and some nice lacing is left behind. In the mouth it's medium bodied with a dextrinous character, and creamy smooth with a median carbonation. Overall it's nice. It's not the most peanut-buttery peanut butter stout I've ever had but it comes through enough. Better than having too much I think.

It isn't bad for a stout, quite good actually. The problem is that it is presented as a peanut butter, chocolate stout. As stated as a stout it is good. But the only way to get a hint of peanut is to poor straight to the bottom of a glass to raise a large head and smell it. Even then only the slightest hint of peanut. No chocolate to speak of as the burnt coffee aroma takes over. As just a stout I would have given a score of 3.5-4. But as a peanut butter chocolate I should have given it a lower score. A beer should be what it is represented as.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Very dark brown color topped with a fluffy brown head. The head did not last lon and the lacing is good. The smell is subdued but nutty and a bit of coffee. The taste is that of a good stout. Peanut butter is only in the background with some chocolate. Overall, not bad for something I thought might go down the drain.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with a lot of khaki colored head. Off smells on the aroma, no peanut butter notes to speak of, lacking in what it describes itself as it should be; same for the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes much of the same, disappointing to say the least. Not good at all. Infected perhaps?

It is the first time I’ve had a Peanut butter Stout. It had a quite different and interesting flavor but there was not a whole lot of peanut butter in it. I thought it was pretty good.

Look: Very dark, black, with a two inch thick mocca head.

Aroma: Mild roasty peanut aroma

Taste: There’s chocolate, coffee, and peanut butter but not a whole lot of it.

Feel: It is creamy, medium hoppy, some alcohol comes through.
