Pours a cloudy straw color. The head is white and dense with great retention. No lacing.
The nose has cloves, bananas, yeast, bread, and its fairly aromatic. Everything can be picked up individually. I'm impressed.
There is a good amount of banana in the taste. You also get some clove on the back end. Picking up a hint of lemongrass as well.
Somewhat light bodied. Feels a bit watered down. Carnation is low to medium.

Appearance: Pale yellow glass is pretty hazy, which is to be expected given the style, but fails to hold a head. The bright white foam from pouring dropped right off.
Aroma: Some banana, even a bit of bubble gum, over ripe peach flesh, more banana esters. Got a whiff of sulfur at pour but it's vented.
Taste: Fruity, banana, peach, orange, a hint of clove, all as it should be. Hefe yeast characteristics, light handed noble hops in a fairly hefty wheat and malt bill.
Mouthfeel: Light body, medium carbonation, watery texture, a little thin.
Overall: A nice summer / lawn mower, good flavor, not heavy, no real flaws. If you like Hefe, give it a try.

Pours a straw gold into the glass. Nice fruity aroma you'd expect more from a Wit bier, but that was my expectation given the reviews. Aroma of banana and maybe strawberry. Nice balance and lightly carbonated.
The won the Gold Medal at the World Brewing Contest, apparently. Nice work B3!

On tap at the Saucer in Addison, TX.
I like my hefes on the sweeter side so I'm a real fan of this.
Poured surprisingly pale and clearer than I expected. Smells like banana bubblegum and tastes it too - but in a good way. I promise. Reading back I'm making it sound terrible but it's really not. Light fizz on the tongue.
Definitely sweeter than your average and lighter/paler too, but with a fairly high ABV. If you like the sweeter and lighter aspects of this style you'll enjoy it. Think of it as closer to a wit bier than almost any other hefeweizen.

This is how Big Bend describes their beer:
"An easy-drinking, straw-golden hefeweizen with a rich mouthfeel & notes of banana & cloves."
For the most part I would agree with that. What it doesn't tell you though is just how sweet and fruity this beer is. Even for a hefe, this beer is sweet and fruity. Maybe almost too fruity.

Very traditional hefe. Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Cloudy yellow with a fluffy white head and decent lacing. Fragrant banana smell. Pleasant fruit and spice taste. Good with sausage!
