Style: Czech Pilsener

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.70%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Pilsner beer originated in Pilsen Czechoslovakia in 1842 and quickly spread throughout the world as the dominant lager style. Light straw to golden in color, Pilsner has a clean, crisp bitterness backed by a solid malt background. Brewed with 2-row Pilsner malt from America's heartland. The noble European hops give it a spicy, floral aroma. Pairs with most foods, from light seafood to spicy hot dishes.

Appearance: Faint head, just a dusting of foam upon pouring. Thin, fine beading adorns the glass walls. The color is very much like egg yolk, bright golden, with some haze.

Aroma: Spicy noble hops dominate the aroma. Cracker malt is present as well, but also lightly toasted malts.

Taste: Opens with a little slightly tart malt, and just a hint of sourness. As the taste progresses, understated noble hops present. As the taste draws to a close, a sourdough-like note is present. Finishes with slight tartness.

Mouth feel: Smooth and full, very pleasant, with just a little sharp carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: Really nice and drinkable, with a prominent, long-lasting head, this would be world class. The lightly toasted malt adds dimension to a familiar style.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Medium sized white dead dies into a thinning lacing above a clear bright golden colored beer.

Lighter lemony sour aroma with some of the lighter grain malts coming through.

Lighter lightly sourish pilsener taste with lighter grain malts coming through.

Drying aftertaste without much of the lighter beer tastes sticking around with this light bodied pils.

A lighter pilsener taste which isn't to bad considering I'm not to big on pilseners but I don't know how it's going to go over with the lovers of this style of beer.

Single 12 ounce can labeled as Tejas Clara, on to the beer:

The head is a little fizzy on this one, but it does leave a few spots of lacing around the glass. The body is light yellow in color, looking like a pale adjunct lager. The aroma of cooked corn hints that this lager may be Mexican-styled, or perhaps even a Tex-Mex beer. Light grass as well, with a metallic kiss. Its character overall is light and thus easy to drink and approach without offending much. The taste starts with mild cooked corn. Clean overall, with vague grass, and coked grain. Light bodied and offering some crispness, Tejas Clara is a small step above the more famous Dos Equis Lager.
