Half liter vom fass at Alte Alm next to the Schaidbergbahn chairlift at Obertauern in Austria. Pretty standard Euro Pale Lager or Helles if you’re generous. Grainy, yeasty, easy to drink. Not necessarily enjoyable.

Here in Vienna for a few days, and figured when in Rome and all that. On tap at the Austrian Fine Arts museum restaurant.
The beer pours the expected medium gold amber color with decent head retention and light lacing. The beer looks nice enough. On the nose, I'm not picking up a whole lot. Just getting some honey aroma and cookie dough from the malt and maybe some white pepper. The flavor profile replicates the nose, though it's a bit more pronounced. Also, there's some light bitterness in the finish that helps to counter and balance the moderate sweetness in this beer. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, and the beer finishes fairly well. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile.
A decent macro lager, well suited to washing down the goulash and soggy potato crisp I had for lunch. This isn't something I'd go looking for, but it's a decent lager to enjoy with a meal. One could do worse.

Pours a clear light yellow with fine, soapy head.
Smell is crackery and floral with notes of white bread, citrus and Saltines.
Taste is crackery, crisp and clean. Notes of bread crust, citrus and some floral hints. Soft bitterness, very easy to drink and refreshing.
Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a good, solid macro lager, easy to drink and well made.

Bitter. Pfiuuuu... from the gas station, when you're desperate to tey something new, and the selection is poor.

Refreshing but nothing amazing; but that may also be its charm. It is a refreshing lager without any bitter after taste. It is a pleasant drink. It has a light feel, a natural look, clear look and very little, if any smell' however, it is a pleasant, refreshing drink. To me (And I have been tasting and testing beers for over 10 years) it was better than expected but not anything more than what it is - a very good refreshing lager.

Way under-rated. This is what Euro Pale lagers should taste like. Simple, clean, enjoyable.
Of course, Gosser doesn't do much more than be an enjoyable lager... but that is its job.
I went on their website and the company seems to be a brand manager for Heineken for at least a dozen beers.
So, why is this only my first from Brau Union of Austria? Why wouldn't Heineken use its network to distribute these other Austrian brands in North America ?
While this is part of a very large corporation, Brau Union seems sincerely devoted to Austria's beer culture. Just send a few more across the pond !

This is what Miller High Life should be! To me it seems that MHLife was modeled after this beer. It's obviously far better. Pretty typical Euro Lager. Nothing really stands out, but that's it's beauty. This beer has a decent amount of carbonation...and just the right body/ABV. You can slam 4 or 5 of these half liters (in a decent glass of course) and feel great. Not too bitter, nor sweet, or tart...No too much of this or that...just smooth, very smooth, and extremely drinkable. This is the ultimate ubiquitous, plain ole' beer... I should mention how reasonably priced it is. A 4 pack of h/liter cans can be had for around $7.00 with tax. Not bad for such decent quality brew. This will definitely be in my rotation... a great all around beer for all seasons...
