Who woulda thunk it? A beautiful beer pub right smack in the middle of downtown Round Rock.
Just a beautiful bar. A lot of detail was put into this old historic building and it shows. They have a display of some of the old artifacts that were discovered during the excavation process. Very cool...even has a very nice deck out in back with water misters and fans.
The selection in here is top notch...a great selection of may beer styles...certainly something for everyone. I like the fact that they'll rotate quite a bit as well so there will always be an updated menu. The "Brew Crew" club is a fun idea too...kinda forces you in a fun way to try different brews to earn freebies down the road. You also get discounts on some nights for being a member...nice touch.
Very friendly staff. These folks know their beer and seem to have fun on the job and appear to be proud to be working here. To me, that's a good sign. You don't want to go into the place where the employees seem pissed or inattentive.
It's cool that they've hooked up with the restaurant next door too...you can order a meal and it will be brought right over.
I've only gone a few times, but this will certainly be a staple of mine in the future. It's a bit pricey, but it's still nice to have a genuine beer bar so close to home without having to drive into Austin.

Living in Round Rock I appreciate having a place like Brass Tap as my "go to" craft beer bar.
Their selection typically is loaded with big beers and their brewery of the month usually yields many gems that attracts big crowds.
The staff will take their time in helping you pick a drink if you're having trouble deciding and all are typically friendly and social regardless of how busy it is.
The biggest knock is the food, its average at best, but you don't really come here for the food do you?

6/21/13 was their grand opening and I was there since I followed closely their FB updates. Round Rock being the largest suburb of Austin has not had much in the way of good craft beer places until the last few years (Austin of course is rich in them). The Brass Tap is in the Historic section of RR, I've lived here since 99 and have been waiting for a good craft bar to come to this quaint area of RR.
Place was packed...to the gills. Very beautiful bar...woodwork is georgous. Staff was great, and hustling big time to keep up with the standing room crowd.
Selection? About 50 taps, many local Austin area brews (512, Jester King, South Austin, etc.) plus a good selection of nationals. Avery IPA, Stone Imperial Stout, Arrogant Bastard, Victory, Ballast Point. They had some Ciders and Imports. Had a ABT 12 that was real nice. The have an impressive selection of bombers and 750 ml bottles near the front door as well- 6 different Jester Kings too....for those not familiar with TX new breweries JK is top notch. They did have their Commercial Suicide on tap. Beautifully flavored beer (English Mild) at 3.5 ABV.
Overall I think this is going to be a successful craft bar, great area, great selection, strong service levels and great location. Check it out.
