Brewed like a stout but hopped like an IPA, Black Mangrove has coffee and roasted characteristics, as well as a nice hop bite from the large amount of Mosaic hops added during the boil and the dry hop additions.

On tap at the brewery in Fort Myers. So happy to find an American Dark Ale. Beautiful dark color. Nose is salty, smokey, briny. So glad to have stopped at this gem!

Served in a large tulip glass. Dark black with large loose foamy head. Big carbonation, but not over-carbonated. The flavor of molasses and bittering hops is up front. Then a nice roasted note, but the hops are always present. Good strength with well hidden alcohol.

On tap at the brewpub, this dark ale pours a dark brown color with a white head. On the nose was some roasted malt and nuts, both of which came out prominently in the taste. Overall this was a nice dark ale, however, due to the Florida weather I think this would be better to drink in January.
