Booming Rollers is a showcase for the juicy awesomeness of Citra hops. These new wave American hops impart a remarkable aroma and flavor, which we've amplified with the dark stone fruit character of New Zealand-grown Motueka hops. Some Centennial is thrown in to balance the tropical fruit party, and the malt body is just assertive enough to support Booming Rollers' snappy bitterness. It's a party in your mouth and all the beautiful people are invited.

Pounder can from Broken Top. Hazy orange golden, initial thick fluffy head. Aroma resembles the NE style, bready, citrus, floral. Taste gets a bit more savory, gentle hops bitterness, mild dank notes, juicy. A lot going on here...Mostly tasty though.

From a 19oz single can. Pours rather flat, with little lacing. Aroma is balanced with citra and malts..but rather bland. Taste was weak across the board. Very little bite, with a light.. but not watery MF. As it warmed, the malts came further out front, but wasn't enough to kick it into 3rd or 4th. Not bad, just a bit underwhelming.

I had real success during New CANned Modern Twin Peak Evil Times Beer Sunday (Week 744) and What Beer Are You Drinking Now (WBAYDN) #2,410, but I finally ran out of gas before I CANpleted my mission. The CANQuest (tm) is finally getting a handle on things & this is a follow-up to an N2 CAN, which is kinda why I took a break - neither fit well with the goings-on at the time.

From the CAN: "Hoppy * Citra IPA"; "Employee Owned"; "6 SRM/Gold 50 IBU 1.009 Final Gravity "; "Citra • Motueka • Centennial [-] Hops Two Row • CaraMalt • White Wheat [-] Malts"; "Booming Rollers is a showcase for the juicy awesomeness of Citra hops. These new wave American hops impart a remarkable aroma and flavor, which we've amplified with the dark stone fruit character of New Zealand-grown Motueka hops. Well, that just sounded like a good time so I beCAN with a Crack! of the vent and a slow, gentle C-Line Glug. This action resulted in just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with excellent retention. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity & The Gelt Gang of Croesus, Midas & Mammon could not join me fast enough! Nose held the modern scent of grapefruit & orange citrus meets tropical fruit. I am less enchanted by the tropical hops than I was before they became so prevalent. I think that brewers are sensing this & blending tropical with the more "traditional" AIPA hops for a more palatable exbeerience. Mouthfeel was medium. The term "juicy" gets thrown around a lot, but this beer was juicy! It was totes fruit, from citrus to tropical & back again, twice over! Yum. I enjoy the occasional tropical fruit cup in my lunchpail/kettle/box, but only occasionally. Better, to me, is the citrus blend. I also really dig applesauce, but that is neither here nor there. This admixture of hops really worked for me. It was less tropical (& sweet - my real bugaboo) than citrusy with a pleasant blending of flavors. Finish was semi-dry to dry. I CAN't say that that I would fill a cooler with CANs of it, but a sixer would not be unwelcome at the beach. YMMV.

Probably my favourite Modern Times IPA. Pours a near clear golden bronze with a bit of chill haze and 2 fingers tight creamy off white head. Aroma is up front citrus, mango, fruity, but with a nice piney hoppiness.
Taste of citrus - ripe orange, pineapple, mango, but a distinct piney bitterness balancing caramel malt sweetness.
Medium full mouthfeel - nice carbonation - smooth and easy drinking.

Pours Golden with slight haze and nice white cap. Smooth and hoppy DIPA clearly made with love.
