2017 Vintage, Pretty well balanced. ABV is noticeable, but works well with adjuncts in this style. Thanks Stephen.

L: not pitch black and not a hick pour
S: big smooth barrel jumps out of the glass. Rich chocolate and toasted coconut as it warms.
T: fudgy, big smooth barrel with coconut nicely mixed and and long in the finish. The coconut is more pronounced as it warms.
F: medium thickness and coating. A nice touch of heat from a smooth barrel.

3rd edition (2017)
L: Jet black little to no head and disappears quickly.
S: Heavy Coconut! First time of it coming through in a MT beer for me. Followed up by intense chocolate. Some barrel characters (wood, vanilla) but its hard to punch through the coco and chocolate.
T: Again with coconuts and chocolate. Dark Mounds bar like, I really let this warmed up BEFORE i poured and it made quite a difference. Followed with a great backbone from the base beer with some bitter chocolate notes. Theres the little hint of heat from the bourbon barrel which is welcomed due to the intense sweetness. Some more subdued barrel character. I can't stress enough the need to let it hit temp.
F:Thick, low carb. not really syrupy which i would have worried about.
O:Wow beer for me. I think the Mexican hot chocolate is a tad better because this one almost to on the nose with the adjuncts, but as it types out I don't have any clue why i would complain about that issue.

This really very similar to the bourbon barrel aged version, except there's a bit more chocolate in the nose, and the beer comes across as sweeter (with chocolate and coconut flavors), but with less bourbon flavor. I tried this beer side by side with he bourbon, coffee and vanilla version, and the only version that really stood out as pretty different was the coffee version (which was served on nitro). All 4 versions were quite good, with my favorite the vanilla version. As with the bourbon version, this one has a very full mouthfeel, with the alcohol very well integrated into the flavor profile (no sense of heat or bite from the alcohol). Delicious stuff.
