I tasted many extraordinary beers at DLD 2015 and this was probably the best of them all. Smooth and relatively light bodied. Fresh coconut dominates the nose and the taste is incredible. Thanks random San Diego guy for the generous pour in the guest tap line, you made my DLD.

650ml bottle shared at the Malt House while waiting for Great Taste tickets.

Appearance is darker brown, nearly black body, one finger brown head with good retention time, nice lacing. Thick brown collar persists. Smells of dark coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, roasted malts, sweet bourbon. Nice smell but you don't get much of the coconut here. Flavour is outstanding; you get dark chocolate bitterness up front from the cocoa, with a nice bit of roasted coffee bean, transitioning quickly to a sweeter milk chocolate presence with a bit of sweet bourbon heat, that quickly is replaced by a strong coconut finish. The coconut finish is excellent and draws comparisons to Almond Joy, but I think of it as more of flaked coconuts on top of dark chocolate chip coffee cake. Nice complexity with the coconut being strong but not an overwhelming one note flavour like GI Proprietor's 2013. Mouthfeel is full bodied, lower in carbonation than usual, thick and slick, but the coconut lightens it all up on the backend. Very drinkable for a 13% ABV beer. Overall, this was a very good beer that integrates coconuts very nicely with the bourbon barrel and coffee treatments on a base beer that was otherwise forgettable; it suggests that the base beer is a nice canvas for barrel treatments.

L: not pitch black and not a hick pour
S: big smooth barrel jumps out of the glass. Rich chocolate and toasted coconut as it warms.
T: fudgy, big smooth barrel with coconut nicely mixed and and long in the finish. The coconut is more pronounced as it warms.
F: medium thickness and coating. A nice touch of heat from a smooth barrel.

Truly superb, nothing like I've ever had before as far as imperial stouts go.

Opened on 4/8/15. Only slight negative is that I wish it was just a little thicker in mouthfeel. However, everything else was extraordinary. The coconut shines in the nose and taste, and it tastes like real coconut, not the sweet, sugary baker's coconut. Flakes of coconut floating the head add to the authenticity. Chocolate notes only add to the coconut flavor and reviews calling it an "Almond Joy" are pretty dang accurate. My suggestion is to drink it fresh to get as much of the coconut and cacao nibs as possible.

I had very high hopes for this beer given some of the hype around it. Unfortunately, it did not even come close. The beer is solid and tastes fine but I do not understand any of the comparisons I have read on here. Good beer...just not great. The cacao taste is very present but almost no coconut could be found.

Had on tap at Provisions Market. The nose is very slight toasted coconut, taste is similar. Last year (2015 was a coconut bomb with coconut floaties. This year seems a lot different, almost as if they burnt the coconut rather than toasted the coconut. Again, it is just another BA adjunct stout, but they have done it better as well as others. Too expensive

A: Dark, almost black, small brown head

S: lots of coconut and sweetness

T: This is so delicious. The coconut is probably the best I have had in a beer. The chocolate and bourbon play along heavenly.

Mouthfeel: Full and creamy

Overall: This shot up to my number one right now. I do not know what I am going to do with myself after my bottle is gone........I cannot go back to drinking other beer now!

I've had this a couple times before in the bottle, but review and score is based on having this on tap just recently at The Full Pint 8th anniversary on 8/8/2015 and FYI - draft is a world of difference compared to bottles.

Wow, where to begin... there's too much to say... one of the tastiest barrel aged stouts I've ever had. Imagine a more robust Bomb! with coconut, without the peppers, slightly more vanilla and then aged in bourbon barrels with even less alcohol detectable on the palate. Smooth and silky mouthfeel all the way down.

On tap at CBC 2016, day 2. Dark pour with almost no head. Tons of toasted coconut, cocoa, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon goodness. Oh yeah!

Will try my best to stretch this review over the required character limit so people can see. This beer was infected. I've been "lucky" enough to have tried a few of infected beers, and this one was very high up there on the "undrinkable" scale. Very sour and bitter, with no redemption from the adjuncts to cover it up. Caveat emptor.

I fell down the first time I sipped this.

Delicious caramel brownie finishing with just the right amount of toasted coconut to leave you wanting more.

Thick, well-balanced syrup.

A slightly better version of Bourbon County. The single best beer I've had to date... and I've dated my fare share of beers.

"Hooooowww doo I everrr stooopp drinking thiiiiiis"
