22oz bomber from the original batch of rum variants released in June, 2015. Two years on and the vanilla is pretty subdued compared to when it was fresh, but I kind of like it this way. The rum barrel is still a potent contributor, to the nose but especially on the palate. The sweetness from the rum, the normal chocolate notes from the Monsters' Park base, and the light vanilla notes all combine to give the impression of boozy cookies and cream. No overt signs of oxidation, and the big, 13% ABV base is holding up very well. So glad that I held on to a bottle of this to see how it would evolve.

Bottle shared by Matthew. Thanks man. Dark brown body with an oily beige head. Aromas of oak, roast. Vanilla character is subtle. Light sweetness imparted from the rum barrels. Pretty good.

Jet black in appearance, copious amounts of rum and sugar dominate the nose, the faint notes of chocolate, vanilla, and oak barely get through. Taste is rum heavy but not overpowering, scant traces of vanilla are present as well, and I get a little bit of pepper (extremely faint) as well. Feel is medium thickness, and carbonation is just right..a superb stout..I'll be seeking out the other BA Monster's Park variants to see how it measures up to this..if they are just as good I'll be hoarding a bunch!

Opened at a share. Nose is all rum. Taste is overpowering rum. Not the sweetness that rum usually brings. It was like drinking a glass of Bacardi. If you love rum, you will love this. I like rum, but wasn't a huge fan of this one

Great look and smell. Wish the vanilla was more prominent. Rum is definitely noticable. This is my first Monsters' Park variant that I acquired in a trade, and gotta say it's nicely done.

I was hoping for more vanilla flavor. This is a lovely beer with a nice rum barrel character and a lot of chocolate flavors but the vanilla isn't what I'd hoped for sadly. Still very good.

650ml bottle served in a stemmed glass. Pours a dark black body, dark brown hue, one finger brown head with minimal retention and lacing as it should be. Smells of mild vanilla bean, lots of sweet rum, a bit of roast and chocolate. The rum is pretty strong here, providing a bit of sugary sweetness. Flavour is fairly sweet but with a nice background of cocoa, chocolate and espresso; but the rum is still quite forward here. Very strong rum. Not so much vanilla bean. A bit of heat as well. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, substantial, lower in carbonation, mild heat on the backend. Finish is sweet rum for the most part, mixed in with a bit of chocolate. Overall, I found the rum to be overpowering here and it didn't quite improve much on the base. Additionally, the vanilla isn't as strong as I would have liked it to be.

Thanks to Joseph for sharing this one at Wowcoolman's tasting.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, vanilla bean, rum, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, vanilla bean, char, and rum flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice mix of vanilla bean and rum characteristics that are slightly better in the smell to me.

Serving type: bottle.

This one surprised me. Some of the Modern Times stouts haven't impressed me too much but this one is an exception. This stout pours out as a nice black color with a thin brown head. The smell of the beer is pretty solid, a nice mix of rum barrel and vanilla. The taste is pretty much the same as nose, loads of dark sugars with rum and hints of vanilla in there too. Overall it's a pretty solid stout even for someone like me who isn't all that into rum.

L- Pours thick, black and a finger mocha head.
S- smells like sweet marshmallow and rum. Awesomeness!!
T- taste follows smell but with more rum. Nice alcohol kick followed by vanilla and vanilla. This beer packs an awesome punch. Some nice chocolate notes
F- what you would suspect thick, alcohol burn and sweetness from the vanilla.
O- great beer. Hard to beat the cocoa & coconut but this one has me thinking.

A - Poured into a Teku glass. Very dark brown with a small tan head that dissipates quickly.

S - Strong alcohol and a lot of sweetness from the rum barrel, a bit of vanilla as well.

T - A good amount of sweetness, a bit of vanilla, fruity almost, with a strong alcohol burn on the finish that tastes of a rum and coke.

F - A bit thinner with a higher amount of carbonation than I'm used to for a BA beer. It has a bit of a creamy texture to it as well.

O - An excellent and unique beer for sure. The rum and vanilla really worked well together. This was my first rum barrel aged beer, and it did not disappoint.

7 ounce glass poured at the Loma Land Fermentorium on 6/06/15. Amazing you can really taste the natural vanilla from the beans they added. It works well with the rum making you feel like your laying on the beach in the Caribbean. Amazing!

This one really stands out. The vanilla really compliments monsters' park well. The carribean rum barrels were the better choice for vanilla for sure. This beer stands alone. So unique and so great. the slightest rum and vanilla coke taste at the end that makes you love the rum even more. This beer is an experience. . . If only there were more out there.
