Interesting experiment. I get mostly old ale out of it at first, but it warms to become more imperial stout.

From the bottom of the can: "09/20/2018 #000224"
From the can: "ALC 12.9% BY VOL"

Appearance: The beer is black with a fully formed brown head with some dark khaki lacing on the glass. It fades out to a short but persistent cap of dark khaki. Good lacing.

Aroma: There was an aroma of toasted oats as the beer was poured. It smells like oatmeal cookies. I get raisins, oatmeal, brown sugar, a touch of cinnamon, some burnt caramel, treacle, dates, plums, figs...the aroma is just oozing with character.

Taste: I get some tobacco and chocolate liqueur with a strong flavor of coffee and an even stronger toffee aftertaste. The aftertaste is like a Werther's Original.

Mouthfeel: It's smooth and full bodied. While it is easy to drink there is a strong sweetness to the beer that hampers its drinkability versus other more bitter Old Ales.

Overall: I can see why this was dubbed an English Old Ale, but at the same time I could see this being labeled as an Imperial Stout. It is sweet and alcoholic and full of flavors. I would recommend it to those with a bit of a buttery sweet tooth. I could drink it from time to time but it isn't something I could drink regularly.

Have had this a couple of times now, most recently a few weeks ago at the Bistro's barrel aged festival. Pours a dark brown and black color and thickness similar to Monsters Park. Same brown head, 1/3". Impressive appearance overall. I guess this has a bunch of adjunct shit in it per the commercial tug job, macadamia nuts, cocoa, coconut. I dunno, I pulled mostly bourbon out of it. Already I'm trying to discern the difference between this and Monsters Park. Same brewery, big ass imperial stouts barrel aged, similar adjuncts. I dunno, I guess if breweries can make 50 slightly different haze bro beers, they can make a couple of slightly different barrel aged stouts. Shoulder shrug. While this place calls it an old ale, their write up for the barrel fest says its an imperial stout. Looked like a stout to me, or at best, a stout blended with an old ale.

Taste was good and amplified, usual notes of roasted malt and chocolate tingling all the way down. Bourbon was strong, probably a 7 on the 10 pt scale. Mouthfeel was good, nuttiness, appropriate carbonation and covering of significant alcohol. Mild dark fruit notes that aren't bitter. The beer is a winner, but like a lot of their stuff, more desireable in a festival setting than an entire 22 or 25 oz bottle at over $1 an ounce.

Appearance: Pours fudge brown (translucent around the edges) with a two-finger tan head; good retention and webby lacing

Smell: Bourbon and caramel tones pronounced, with vanilla, oak and chocolate tones

Taste: Bourbon and caramel tones forward, with vanilla emerging; chocolate and oak merge, in the middle, as the boozy tones build into the finish; the aftertaste has a lot of chocolate stout character

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; considerable warmth in the gullet

Overall: The Devil's Teeth series is an interesting departure from the typical BBA stout; really like the Old Ale tones that are dominant here
