Bottle pour to snifter, black, moderate beige head with little retention, minimal lacing. Bourbon and wood on the nose, vanilla, light coffee. Taste is a little too heavy on the wood, a bit too tannic, coffee is very prominent, bourbon is in the background. Molasses, vanilla, some chocolate also play on a medium heavy body that is a bit thinner that expected but silky. Finish is coffee/hop bitter. Carbonation is light.

Poured into a snifter. Opaque brown/black color with a generous tan head. Good retention and lacing for a BA beer. Strong coffee on the nose, along with restrained vanilla, oak, bourbon, and caramel malt. I really liked the coffee emphasis. The malt from the Old Ale base came out but was enveloped by the coffee and bourbon flavors. I thought that the flavors played well together, Coffee on the finish with a slightly hot aftertaste. Full bodied but not overly heavy or sweet. I enjoyed this.

From tasting notes 03/09/17
Had on-tap at Final Gravity in Roseville, CA
Appearance - Served up in a 6oz snifter, midnight black with a barren surface and a razor thin, dark tan colored ring of suds. A few tiny spots make up the lacing.
Smell - Lots of milk chocolate in the aroma, with lesser notes of coffee, nuttiness, vanilla and oak and bourbon booziness.
Taste - Flavor is consistent with the nose, but not quite as deep as the aroma would lead on. Chocolatey and with a lot of booziness. Coffee notes are an afterthought; very faint. Vanilla. Hints of oak. Mostly Chocolatey finish with some caramel and bourbon booze.
Mouthfeel - Full-bodied with low carbonation. Texture is slightly creamy before turning sticky and quite dry in the finish.
Overall - Strongly boozy, and like many MT beers the depth of flavor is mostly underwhelming when compared to its counterparts. There are a number of amazing BA Impy stouts that blow this out of the water, and for considerably less.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017, yellow session. Aroma has fresh roasted coffee and some booze. Taste is bitter, acidic, quite roasty. Body is on the lighter side.

Black with a fuzzy tan foam.
Peanuts, caramel, chocolate, nougat...would it be easier to simply say Snickers?!
I'm not sure what all they do to make this beer, but on draft on Huna day, it really did come across as a Snicker's inspired beer, with a bit of bourbon and coffee to keep it from being sweet.
