Very Good
Notes: The flavor: cold. The crushability: maximum. Ice was our very first pils, and it brings the noise. Hopped with Czech Saaz hops before, like, so many weeks of lagering, Ice packs the flavor of the mighty San Diego mountains into a compact, low-ABV package.

From the 16 oz. can dated 02/17/20. Sampled in April 26, 2020.

Yellow, bubbly pour with a tremendous white foamy white head. Slow fade.

The aroma brings out rice characters, grassy characters, and a little bread. Pretty basic but nothing extraordinary.

Light and effervescent body.

The taste is a little more interesting hut generally like bread and biscuit and grass. A Pilsner that is not quite up to par with other Pilsners I have had.

I'm baffled by all the good reviews of this beer. Flavor is bland and unremarkable, with a slight sour twinge. No hop aroma whatsoever, although it does have a strong, overpowering sulfur aroma reminiscent of dried fruit. The flavor disappears on the palate, leaving only an unpleasant residual astringency. Beer pours slightly hazy with a decent head. Carbonation level is a bit on the high side but not inappropriate. Overall, a poorly executed pilsner. Honestly, I'd choose Bud Lite over this beer. There are so many better lagers out there being made by craft brewers; don't waste your time on this one.

Reviewed to style.

This beer pours a crystalline clear. It smells like a classic grainy Pilsner, clear finish. Easy drinking. Nice grassy finish. I liked this, although for the price I'll just stick to the IPAs!

Clear watery golden drink with white suds on top. Light aroma of cereal grain, wheat, straw, light touch of hop. Cereal grain, straw, the slightest apple skin, fresh hop flavor and low bitterness. Light bodied with light carbonation.

Very nice pilsener from a brewery I've come to really respect. Looks great - pours a beautiful clear golden color with some fluffy white head and sheets of lacing that just last forever (at least 15 minutes, which is how long it took for me to finish the beer). Smells of grain, malt, caramel and some faint floral hops. Taste follows the nose, but the mild bitterness of the hops is so well-balanced with the sweeter malt backbone. Smooth, thin, mild mouthfeel and great carbonation. Really a very enjoyable beer, one that I would easily call sessionable, and I would drink 2-3 of these on a hot summer's day without a second thought. This ranks up there as one of my more enjoyable pilseners/lagers, and certainly my favorite Bohemian pilsener.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Craft Beer Quick Stop cooler on 9-7-18 for $2.49. Canned on 6-16-18; consumed on 12-9-18. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured straw with a beautiful white head that has some great hand time.

Nose is herbal from noble hopping with crackers and bread.

Taste is pilsner malts with a cracker and bread character with a nice noble hop bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and refreshing.

Overall a nice representation of the pilsner style.

A: The beer is crystal clear light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that consistently left a short head overing the surface after it settled down.
S: Light to moderate aromas of grassy hops are present in the nose along with hints of breads malts.
T: The taste follows the smell, having moderate flavors of grassy hops along with hints of bready and grainy malts as well as spicy hops. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little dry on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I enjoyed the aromas and flavors of grassy hops in this pilsener, which seemed to be prominent enough given the lighter bodied nature of this beer. It goes down very easily.

On tap at Goldstein's Mortuary & Delicatessen

A: Pours golden straw with a frothy white head that settles to a thin layer and laces quite nicely.

S: Zesty citrus, lemon, grassy, a little spice, herbal, grainy crackery malt, and a bit of faint yeastiness.

T: Zesty, lemon, grassy, peppery spice, slightly herbal, floral, dare I say chamomile, crackery grainy malt, and a faint stone fruit, apricot and plum.

M: Light body, lively carbonation.

O: Crisp and tasty on a hot day, but I think they could have dropped the IBUs a few.

L: Pale in color, somewhat hazy appearance. Bubbly white head, about 3 fingers worth, which settled and left loads of lacing.
S: Biscuit and malt sweetness. Some wheat aromas on the nose. Citrus and pepper with some pineapple. Typical pilsner smell.
T: Grainy in flavor with slight sweetness. Some lemon in the flavor as well, with a peppery/yeasty finish.
F: Smooth and good weight, but still remains light and easy to drink.
O: A simple and easy drinking beer. I am grateful to have tried. Cheers!

Pale, straw yellow body; lively carbonation; thin, foamy head. Herbal, grassy aroma; light bread crust. Delicate cereal grain flavor infused with a robust hop bitterness. Medium-light body; crisp with a soft dryness.

A solid, well-made Czech-style pilsner. Light and refreshing and still brings on some subtle cereal malt flavors intermingling with a well-balanced hop bitterness.

16oz can with a caning date of 6/2/18. Yellow, plenty of suds. Aroma is very earthy, noble hops? Good lager flavor, kind of spicy. This was easy to drink but for some reason it doesn't make me want another one which a good lager should do.

Pours a foggy straw color with a finger and a half of white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is salt, yeast, pilsner and bread malts. Flavor profile is salty, very salty. Pilsner and bread malts give it a bready, clean flavor profile. Mouth feel is velvety with a fine crisp-edge. It has a medium thickness. Overall, a salty lager, but otherwise straightforward. It makes for a pleasant beer for a hot day.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 16oz can.

Vroom vroom! Clear. Not crystal clear Pepsi clear, but kinda straw-like. Aroma is sweet grain and malt like a Tijuana sunrise after visiting the donkey shows. Taste is much the same, along with some nascar metallic lingering. Not too pumped about that.

Anyway, Raul moves on and he sips, and he sits, and it’s a perfectly fine pilsner for a perfectly fine day - but sometimes you want da best. And da best ain’t here.

Slightly hazy straw color with a white head that reminds me of cumulus clouds - puffy, billowy cotton balls in the sky. Grass and bread notes are prominent on the nose, spot on for the style.

There is just the slightest lemon note on the taste, but the ample grass notes and bread notes rule the day. The mouthfeel is impressive for a 4.8% ABV beer - this could’ve gone to Thin City, but the noble hops won’t allow that. Very well done by Modern Times.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold. Smells of malt, grains, very light hops, and earthiness. Tastes of a lot of grains and malt, grass, light hops, and a small amount of citrus. Medium in body and medium-high carbonation. Overall for a Pilsner, this is damn good.

Poured from 16oz tall can into a dimpled mug. Canned 6/20/17, so less than 3 months old.

Appearance: light golden hue with a moderate haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop. Normally I would downgrade a Czech Pilsner for such cloudiness, but that's not really how Modern Times is marketing it, so I shan't; actually, I think it looks quite attractive.

Smell: definitely a lager with plenty of yeasty aroma; there's also a rather grainy malt component. A sweet element kind of brings it all together, though, and I like it.

Taste: quite yeasty with some grassy, green hop character. It's not groundbreaking, but it's quite nice.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body but with a great-big carbonation and a relatively satisfying creaminess.

Overall: this is a pretty balanced beer; sweet but grainy, and lightly hopped but bitter enough that you know you're drinking a beer. Paired with the light ABV, it means I could drink quite a lot of this stuff. Definitely worth a try if you see it around!

Pint can poured into a pint glass.

Look is of a typical Pilsener. Straw colored and very clear. Plenty of carbonation and a light bubbly head.

Smell is of some hoppy straw and wheat. Some banana and clove in there also.

Taste is light apple, malty wheat, lemon, and a skunky grainy cracker flavor. Pretty nice.

Feel is of a crisp and refreshing beer. Not much body to it.

Overall a nice take on a pilsener. I admittedly don't drink many pilseners so take my review with a grain of salt.

Sparkling golden with a moderately large, fluffy white foam leaving sticky arms of lace.

I'm smelling corn, biscuit and grassy hops that are slightly astringent with much the same in taste, which adds a tad more bitterness of grapefruit rind and pine through an ultra frothy, crisp body and a semi-dry to dry finish.

Appearance: Pours slightly hazy and golden colored and a nice bubble show produces the full three fingers; good retention and clusters of lacing

Smell: Bready and grassy

Taste: The bready backbone supports the grassy hops as they wash over the taste buds; clean finish

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with crisp carbonation

Overall: Pretty darn nice example of the style

16oz can. 6/20/17 can date. Appearance: Light golden and clear, with a slight chill haze, and a moderate fluffy white head with decent lacing. Aroma: Bready maltiness, with a distinct floral hippiness. Not really picking up any spicy or herbal hop character. Taste: Pleasant bready maltiness upfront, followed by a floral and spicy dominant strong bitterness that finishes dry. Almost a hint of mint. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a touch of viscosity, and a moderate bitterness. Finish: Leaves a strongly bittered bready flavor long after the swallow. Overall: Top notch Czech Pils, one of the better versions from an American brewery. Has that rich bread yet maltiness and floral/spicy Saaz hop character similar to that of Pilsner Urquell. Nice body as well for the style, which was surprising given the lighter color than PU. Clean and lacks diacetyl. Refreshing.

A crystal clear light yellow with a dense, white head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great. The nose is grainy, grassy, lemony, clean with honey, a little dough and earthy. The palate opens with a soft and clean bitterness, lemony, earthy, pleasantly resiny and with a rather magnificent doughy and grainy malt character. Drying, mildly bitter on the finish, this beer is light in body and has an exceptional moutfeel - so soft and creamy! Lingering lemon is present on the finish. Excellent stuff.

The beer pours clear and to the sraw side of yellow. The head was thin and white, but hung around for a long time.

Aroma of biscuity malt, a little spiciness, and a faint whiff of lemon.

The hop flavor is brighter than the aroma suggest, grassy but with a citrus flavor as well. Clean malts, bready. There is some sweetness as well. The bitterness seems suitable for the style.

Feel is light and crisp, clean, refreshing.

Overall an enjoyable beer worth a try if you are looking for something light and flavorful.

16 oz. can. Clear yellow body. Smells of spicy and grassy hops with a little bit of a tropical aroma as well. Also smells like corn, though. Taste has a bright fruity hop flavor before a light bready malt and corn sweetness. Grassy and spicy hop bitterness in the back. Medium light. The hop profile is a little out of sorts for the style, but the corn is the real problem. Not bad, though.

Poured into a pilsner glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a two finger white head that dissipates to a thick cap with good lacing. Aroma is classic grainy biscuit malt with grassy Noble hops. Flavor follows, with biscuit malt with husky grain, continental grassy hops, finishing with grainy malt and mild to moderate dry grassy hops with a hint of lemon. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Not sure what the "ice" is about (it makes the can look 90% like a BMC light beer can). Tastes like a traditional Czech pilsner, maybe a little on the mild side for hopping. True to style, but does not stand out in the pils crowd.
