Canned one month ago (Sept. 2021).

Pours near-black with a thin film of tan head.

The nose is dark chocolate syrup, vanilla frosting, root beer, and savory depth. Hints of leather and booze.

The taste is chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. Medium sweetness and low to medium booze. Rich and decadent yet relatively balanced.

The mouthfeel is medium+ for the style. Opens lightly carbonated and is thicker mid-palate.

Overall, very good. A good blend of chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon.

Vanilla bomb. Very sweet with a hugh amount of bourbon. Looks a bit like infused instead of barrel aged

Another perfect vanilla stout from MT. Pours dark, thick, great head. Very sweet nose. Just the perfect amount of vanilla and barrel. 12 oz format is great for a solodome

Poured from a can to glass. Poured a dark color. Smelled like huge amounts of vanilla. Am not one who really enjoys vanilla like others but this one caught me by surprise. Mouthfeel was medium. Taste was a vanilla bomb! Enjoyed this beer soo much I opened a second can. Modern Times is really stepping up their game and taking the world by surprise. Am very impressed!

Pours a thick, deep black with almost no head and no lacing.

The smell is bourbon up front with a hint of sweet vanilla underneath.

The taste hits the sweet vanilla up front with a really nice bourbon balance. The finish shows a bit of char and leather that are a nice balance to the sweetness.

The mouthfeel is thick and smooth with low carbonation and a lingering, tongue-coating finish.

Overall this is outstanding. The balance is superb with a near perfect use of vanilla.

Pours a thick, viscous, dark, oily black color. Completely opaque. Nice two finger mocha colored head settles on the top of the beer for a moment before dissipating completely. A thin ring of foam is retained on the top of the beer.

Aroma has notes of bourbon, oak, sweet fresh vanilla beans, roasted malts and chocolate.

Taste follows the nose with notes of chocolate, roasted malts, slight charred character, fresh vanilla beans, cocoa, and then finishing with a lovely bourbon and oak finish. Its sweet, but not cloying. The underlying stout is allowed to shine, but the bourbon barrel aging is still present and sets the stage for the underlying stout. Incredibly easy drinking for a 14%+ stout.

Feel is thick, creamy and full bodied. Vibrant carbonation. Super smooth.

Overall this is a remarkable stout - one of the best I've had.

Good head production, and absolutely fantastic retention, especially considering the ABV and barrel treatment.

Massive aroma, at first carrying notes of bourbon, but as it warms sweet smooth vanilla blending with strong chocolate and espresso from the malt base. Sweet: red grape, prune, date, a touch of banana, milk chocolate, syrup, molasses, cream, vanilla, bourbon mash, brown sugar, caramel. Smells absolutely wonderful.

Creamy and delectable on the palate, with massive notes of vanilla from start to finish - more than I've had in perhaps any other stout. A bit of back end heat reminds you of the sky high ABV. Sweet, but in the way that huge flavored stouts were sweet before the era of pastry stouts.

Vanilla, chocolate, vanilla, red grape, vanilla, toast, vanilla - you get the picture. Syrup, espresso, chocolate covered pecans.

Full bodied, chewy, creamy, mouth-filling. A massive beer, and a wonderful sipper. Long, long finish.

12 oz. can. Pours only black with a mocha head. Nice. Smells of lots of vanilla, sweet chocolate, and bourbon. Tastes of mostly vanilla and sweet chocolate. Lightly toasty, very sweet, with some bourbon as the sugar dies down. Licorice in the finish. Very heavy. Boozy. Slow to drink. Very sweet, but shy of undrinkably sweet. For a stupid big stout, it's good, but it's still a stupid big stout.

poured from a 12oz can into a snifter. pours inky black with a beautiful sandy chocolate foam cap that dissolves into a ring around the glass. aromas of chocolate brownies, bourbon, marshmallows and vanilla frosting. taste is vanilla fudge with a nice bourbon barrel kick to it. mouthfeel isn’t over the top thick but it’s certainly not thin either. i’m not a huge straight vanilla stout person but i enjoyed this a lot. don’t know why this beer gets the 12oz can packaging but it was perfect to split 2 ways. while i wouldn’t say it’s a vanilla bomb it certainly doesn’t lack or skimp on the vanilla either. it had enough chocolate and fudge from the base stout and a great amount of bourbon barrel to balance out the vanilla.

Yet another review of the beers they brought to their quasi tap takeover at BeerNV around the beginning of June 2018. Pours black, relatively thick and with a 1/3" brown head. They all look like powerful heavily roasted stouts. This one didn't pop vanilla in the nose, was just basically the same aroma as the regulare non adjunct barrel version.

Here the taste is noticeably sweeter. Yes, it makes for an even smoother mouth feel. Did I not mention the strong amount of bourbon influence yet? Its in all of them. But its not hot for its abv. The vanilla amount is big. Gives this version more of a caramel persuasion to it. Its really good stuff, you can substitute it for whatever BA vanilla stout you chase, BCS, Eclipse, whatever. But even then, you still would be better off with Avery's vanilla bean stout at half the price.

Tasted from can. Pours black with little to no head. Aroma is sweet bourbon with a hint of vanilla. Some cocoa. Flavor has way more pronounced vanilla than nose. Caramel, toffee, cocoa, molasses. Very well done BA stout.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018, Green Session. Aroma is sweet and roasty with dark chocolate, bourbon and toffee. Taste is sweet and bourbony with dark chocolate flavor. Complex but balanced, just a bit astringent.
