During college my friends and I would get Slurpees, dump a ridiculous amount of Captain Morgan's into them, and then take them into concerts and such with us. A large Slurpee can absorb half a bottle of the Cap'n easily. This reminds me of that ... in a good way. Nostalgia!

 

Adored this one. One of the best base stouts for barrel aging in the business plus Nicaraguan rum, cherries and vanilla. Hard to go wrong with that. Tastes as advertised, plenty of rum, cherries and vanilla. Exceptional.

Thanks to Stevedore for sharing. Poured into snifter glass. Pitch black in color with a bright brown head. The aromas were of deep chocolate brownies spiked with alcohol. The alcohol is very noticeable but not to the point of being overwhelming. Very inviting but at the same time, it reminds you how potent this is. Tasted flavors of chocolate brownies with vanilla frosting. Very sweet and delectable. I kind of overlooked the notes of Rum as this beer is very heavy in the chocolate. It has a very rich and heavy mouthfeel. Modern Times never disappoint.

 

650ml bottle, 2016 release. Served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark black body, cola brown hue with a big mocha head, one finger with a nice collar. Fair retention. Smells of chocolate fudge brownies and vanilla. The vanilla bean is heavy, on the level of BA Vanilla Shake or FVM/BVDL. It's impressive. Not much in way of cherry, maybe a slight fruity tartness to the nose, but it is otherwise a sweet chocolate brownie with vanilla on top. Flavour isn't quite as ice cream fantasy-inspiring as the nose is, though very tasty. The cherry comes out more, with a slight cherry skin tartness otherwise covered up by the vanilla, chocolate brownie, cocoa and brown sugar. Sweet beer. Mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, nice carbonation, substantial with a slight brown sugary and fairly heavy vanilla finish. The smell is freshly baked brownies with vanilla ice cream on top. It's phenomenal, and taste just follows behind that.
