Dark, thick, roasty with a tan head. Smell is a mix of tangy roasted malt bourbon rum Brandy chocolate. Tastes sweet with all the flavors that are in the aroma. Finishes bitter with char and dark chocolate. Pretty great beer.

650ml bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark black body, cola hue with a one finger offwhite head, good retention, not much lacing. Smell is confusing, with a ton going on here. I'll take a stab though- lots of caramel, toasted malt, toffee, whiskey and bourbon, touch of spice, maple and brown sugar. It's smelling very sweet, with a good barrel presence. As a whole this smells like a big old ale/barleywine style, with its components adding essentially adjuncts on there. Phew. Flavour is similarly confusing and complicated, with chocolate, toffee, caramel, maple, oak, whiskey, bourbon and some earthy malt. Light spirit heat on the backend. Smooth sweetness to it. That is a pretty nice after dinner drink. Mouthfeel is full bodied, substantial, big and hefty with appropriate carbonation and a maple-drizzled chocolate cake finish to it. Definitely a big boy, tasty with a lot going on here. I had to let myself relax and take it all in, instead of trying to characterize it and put it into a category.
