Taster at Belmont Fermentorium. Black and oily, tiny ring of head. Sweet, roasty aroma. Taste is all over the place, chocolate, coffee, light fruit notes, coconut. Sweet, almost la to, creamy. Not barrel aged yet, but this will be perfect for it.

Appearance - The beer was deep in black color with a mocha colored head.

Smell - The nose was fresh ground coffee that was slightly sweet.

Taste - at the front, there was so much sweetness. Coffee is fresh at the start, and leads to hint of coconut. There is a little bit of an odd flavor as if I had licked a stamp, but this is minor. The warmness curious to the aftertaste with lighter coffee notes.

Mouthful - The beer was remarkably smooth with a strong body. It was not overly thick.

Overall - A little more coconut would set this off the charts. Still, it is excellent.

16oz can, served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark black body, one finger mocha head, good retention, spots of lacing here and there. Smell is toasted coconut, sweet milk chocolate, a bit of lactose, touch of dark fruit, a light amount of espresso, some cocoa. Hefty sweetness, certainly in the pastry manner. Flavour is coconut, touch of dark fruit, minimal roast, milk chocolate, more milk chocolate, cocoa and a bit of coffee though the coffee is absolutely muted here. Sweet pastry stout right here. Mouthfeel is full-medium bodied, good carbonation, slight espresso bitterness along with toasted coconut on the finish. Tastes like coconut macaroons, overly sweet but without being cloying.

Holy diabetes. This is crazy sweet. It is straight dark caramel, and the coffee is lost in the forest of sugar cane sweetness. It feels full bodied, and is sticky on your lips. I am going to let other can sit for a bit. Wowwy.

Jet black, syrupy beer with a dense brown head. The head retreats to the edges after about 30 seconds and leaves a few random specks of lacing on the glass. The nose is massive amounts coconut and coffee with sweet chocolate and a bit of char. This chewy beer is really sweet with coconut, coffee and chocolate. A nice dark chocolate and char bitterness at the end. This is a pretty great beer.

This beer is nothing short of fantastic in the way it balances extremes. There's an extreme coffee flavor that hits both your nostrils and your tongue, but it's immediately balanced by a toasted coconut flavor. This entire beer is the dance between too much and perfect, your nose and taste buds perpetually asking the question "Is this perfect?" And then you realize that you've finished the entire can and that you're regretful that you can't take another drink and you realize that yes, this is a perfectly-made beer. Mouth feel is thick and chewy; a beer that encourages you to roll it around on your tongue. When you do, you'll get the interplay of coconut and coffee, and an almost cinnamon flavor. The head retention on this beer is excellent as well, with a little toffee-colored pillow riding my beer to the bottom of the glass. I bought a 4 pack fully intending to trade/sell two of the beers, and now I won't even consider sharing them; they're all for me.

Poured from a 16-ounce can, date stamped 1/24/2018, deep into the pit of darkness - black under a 3/4-inch tan head which slowly fades to the rim and leaves spotty and splotches of lace. Aroma is roast, toasted coconut, fruity coffee, and vanilla. Flavor is a mounds bar in a glass with dark chocolate and coconut with nutty notes and some rounded out roast and bourbony vanilla. Full body, semi-moderate carbonation. Warming, rich, creamy, decadent desert adult beverage perfect for a rare rainy day in L.A. Cheers!
